Service and ambience was stellar. Sadly that was about it. The place has potential and I hope it improves with time. The upstairs is under renovation but could make a great party room.Sadly food wise I wish I hadn't stopped by. The fish tasted old, the rice in the sushi itself wasn't seasoned properly and there was a lot more of it than typically in sushi rolls, and the crab salad on my expensive roll was just chopped up fake crab doused in mayo. I ended up not eating most of my food and the bill was over $40. Feel like I wasted my money.

I love fresh sushi, and this place does not disappoint! I stuck to my old standbys of tuna and spicy tuna rolls, and tried a couple of the other specialty rolls. They were all fantastic!

So we ordered 3 things: a regulator roll, the Korean fried chicken, and a 4-piece order of the shrimp tempura.I want to make this clear: I will likely come back. The shrimp tempura and the regulator roll were both amazing and we would definitely order them again. That being said, the Korean fried chicken is where the order went wrong. The rice and chicken were served with some very low quality lettuce (akin to the kind of shredded lettuce you'd get on a sandwich at McDonald's). The issue with this is that this kind of lettuce has a very bland and unpleasant taste that permeates everything it touches, so now the rice and the chicken have this permanent unpleasant taste to them. The worse problem, however, was that the chicken wasn't all chicken. There were a few pieces of shrimp. tails attached, mixed in. Admittedly, I don't know if the dish comes with shrimp normally, but their menu doesn't mention that. I'm thankful I do not have a shellfish allergy or this would have caused a major problem. Basically, the sudden discovery that several of my pieces of chicken were actually shrimp, combined with the bad lettuce taste taking over everything, caused me to lose my appetite for that meal.I want to be clear. though. Despite the major issues with the Korean fried chicken, we are still likely to return because of how good the tempura and the roll were. If you order from here, maybe stick to just rolls and a la carte items, especially if the side salad or the possible surprise inclusion of shrimp would cause you trouble, be it taste-wise or health-wise.

This new sushi place in Johnstown is super good! ? it’s definitely a step up from other known sushi restaurants in the area.Highly recommend! I do wish they used actual sushi rice ? but other than that… the flavors are amazing and authentic!I promise you won’t have a bad time here

My husband and I got take out for lunch the other day. We had the gyoza, golden Cali roll, tiger eye roll, and Alaska roll. All were delicious and our bill was about $43. Tasted just as good as sushi I’ve had in Pittsburgh, and was ready fairly quickly. Will be going back to dine in soon :)UPDATE: went back to dine in and it was amazing. It’s BYOB so we got some sake from Wine and Spirits to take with us. We got one of the chef’s selection boards and it did not disappoint. The portion sizes are crazy and everything was delicious. Not pictured: the Eternal Sunshine roll which may be the best roll I’ve ever had anywhere - with salmon and lemon the flavors are so fresh and crisp. Whole staff has been very friendly. We’ll probably be ordering out or dining in at least once a week :)

This place is terrible. For the money drive up to scalp and go to Nykos. It’s cheaper and actually good. Rice was dry as a bone. One roll wasn’t even right. Why are their prices higher than Nykos but their sushi not even in the same league??

Surprise Southmont, we have a sushi house!!! The chicken fried rice was the freshest I’ve ever had, with a fried egg on top to boot, and the Yaki Udon might be my new favorite dish period! I love green onions and this dish did NOT disappoint! The highlight though was the Golden California deep fried roll, which was absolutely one of the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had anywhere. This place is an absolute must try!!! Don’t walk, run there!
