My wife and I have been going to El Ranchero for a long time and have always liked it there, never a problem until this just this last time Sat May 3rd 2024 @6:15 PM . My Iphone was stolen by the waiter. I left it on the table. I am ~99.9% sure that he took it because we were the only ones in the restaurant when we left, he had already started cleaning the table when we got up and we went directly home. And I remember leaving the phone on the table. I called later that evening; but they were already close and my phone was turned off. The next day I went back around noon and he was there, so I confronted him, he was very nervous said nothing and he quickly walked away into a office room behind a closed door, the room near the cash register area, and came back out 5+ min later and then he denied it. And I said that I just want my phone back otherwise I will have to deactivate it so you can't use it anyway and I will have to go through a big hassle, and that I would be back at 5PM hoping it would magically appear; but not. And too boot, I gave him a 25% tip that evening, $10 tip on a $40 check, and I was treated like this... disgusting. My son told me to ask if they have video from that evening and to fill out a police report. Normally I would give El Ranchero a 4 star review until this last time. The waitresses know us and have always been friendly nice to us and now this guy, he was young too about 17 yo I'd say. Now I have a big headache from this young man. I am not sure if we will go back or not, my wife says no.

Excellent-great ambiance, menu and food. Service was a little slow but not too bad. A shame they don't serve beer/wine

Great ambience, service and food. As a Mexican, it's one of the very few places that I have enjoyed a flavor similar to the authentic stuff. I highly recommend it

We love El Ranchero. We used to go her all the tines years ago, but just rediscovered it while in Kennett. They have really cool artwork and aesthetic inside. The food is delicious and well priced. We've only ever had the same waitress every tine we've gone and she works her tail off servicing the entire restaurant by herself every time we're there. Finally a place we can eat out at without spending over $100 on a family of 5. We definitely recommend it for authentic, delicious, well priced mexican food.

Horrible service, lower than mediocre food. We walked out without eating (after waiting for almost 40 mins and only getting guacamole but no chips and we were the only two people there). I wish I could give 0 stars. We will never go back.

Extremely bland food, everything was heavily under seasoned, server was not attentive and screwed up two of the 4 things we ordered. Not surprising it's empty on a Thursday at 7.

After the 1906 restaurant at Longwood Gardens lost our reservation we went searching for dinner in Kennett Square. We feel as though we were exceeding lucky to find El Ranchero. The service was timely, the food good and the atmosphere was pleasant. All together a great end to a very wonderful day of adventure." BYOB" if you enjoy a drink with dinner.

In days passed, I would have rated this establishment much higher. Times are apparently tough here, such as no staff, extraordinary wait for the food especially for the lack of patrons. The means of hand drying in the men's restroom were 2 rolls of Scotts single ply toilet paper. Knowing the outcome, I still gave it a try. Ha ha. The hand soap was a quart container with a 1/4" of soap on the bottom. So went the evening and our business here. Our server was pleasant and the guacamole was excellent.

Walking in here you feel like you are on a little street in Mexico. Service was friendly, food was good. We will be back to try more. And it's BYOB.
