The food is not all that great and our waitress was rude. How do you screw up tips??? We won’t go there again and that’s a shame because years ago it was one of the best places to eat in Lancaster. Not anymore I am sorry to say.

Great food, great service. Best cheeseburger I've ever had. Just be sure to get there right at opening if you don't have a reservation!

Whether you are local or visiting Lancaster, you cannot miss this place. Food is professional chef level with local freshness and flavor. Tim and everyone at the bar are knowledgeable - you can confidently order something obscure like an Alaska or Aviation and it's guaranteed delicious. Live music often, friendly service. A wide selection of whiskey and unique amaros, liqueurs etc.

Sort of a neighborhood old-time tavern atmosphere. Service and food was excellent. We were there on a Saturday night and there was live music.

Went to the Horse Inn, overpriced food with small portions and slow service. It is not a Speakeasy whatsoever. It's Lancaster, I guess this is the best they have, what a let down.

The food and service is fantastic, worth every penny. The customer base is the reason for the 1star review. The lazy, self entitled, elitists that patronize the Horse inn would rather hog up all the tax paying residential street parking, then walk an extra 50 feet to their designated parking lot. So if you decide to dine at the Horse inn, do the residents a favor, park in their parking lot.I have to park 3 blocks away from my residence because your customers are to lazy and inconsiderate to use your parking lot.

Cozy, rustic restaurant. Food was out of this world. Service was great. Even had a 3 piece band adding to the ambiance. We walked in on Saturday evening around 7 pm without reservations but got seated immediately. Would still suggest reservations. Highly recommended!Parking: Lot parking is about 1/2 block away. Some closer on street parking is possible.

A historic speakeasy, you can’t go wrong. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t have reservations so we had to wait so we got drinks at the bar. Bartenders are fantastic. We ordered the horse fries which were so tasty. If we didn’t have to wait we probably wouldn’t have ordered them. So glad we did. We both enjoyed the cheeseburger. They were perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was great they had a band the night we went. Definitely make reservations if you are in a time scheduled. We will definitely return.

A very nice, tavern style restaurant with very good food! Decorated well and lively. There is standard fare as well as several interesting dishes that you will not find elsewhere in the city. Service was laid back yet prompt. Only 'complaint' would be the difficulty to get a reservation/table. They reserve a certain percent and leave the rest of the tables for walk in. I'm not a great planner and previously attempted to go last minute; and it took 4 tries to get a table with a reasonable wait. Highly recommend!

Shoo fly pie - yes. Incredible cocktails - yes. Incredibly kind staff yes ! Live jazz on a random Tuesday? You got it. This is the spot - don’t miss the ‘back’ entrance which was really the main entrance for most of this establishment’s existence.

Best kept secret in Lancaster. I've been going there for literally 50 years. It's a Lancaster institution! Amazing cocktails, great atmosphere like you've never seen anywhere before. Oh, and did I mention they have the best wings in Lancaster?? You have GOT to try the Horse!!!

Pleasantly surprised! My husband and I took a little road trip out of the city for the weekend and decided to come to Lancaster. I saw many of the positive views on the Horse Inn and thought we'd give it a try. When we first walked in and went up to the host stand, I was underwhelmed. Theennnnnnnn, we were actually seated in the larger part of the restaurant and I was impressed. It was larger than I thought, had a nice ambiance, there's even a set-up for live music. Now, let me get to the good (no the great) stuff. First up, I ordered the petey pablo drink. It was sooo delicious. I am a cocktail snob, so trust me when I say that drink was goodT! (yes with the T at the end). I ordered 2 more - each one, was delicious. I was not expecting top tier cocktails from a place called the Horse Inn. Next up the food! When I tell you I was not expecting this good ole, down south, put your foot in it cooking!! I had the chicken and dumplings and some of my husband's horse fries, everything was 10/10! The chicken was moist and seasoned to perfection. The dumplings, were moist and sopped up the gravy they were sitting in perfectly. I can taste it while I'm typing lol. I would definitely go back! Also, the service was great! Our waiter was very friendly and even gave us recommendations for dining for the remainder of our weekend! Do yourself a favor and be sure to stop here if you're visiting or passing through Lancaster!

If Zero were an option I would leave it because of the way we were treated. I tried to make a reservation for 4 for my sons birthday and was told we had to be a walk in before 8:30. My husband son and myself arrived upon opening to start on drinks and appetizers until my daughter in law would arrive and join us for drinks. We were seated at a round table in the front with no menus or drink orders taken. Then the hostess came and said we could not sit there and made us leave the table and gave it to a family of 2 adults and 2 children. No apologies and then told us we could NOT be seated until the 4th person arrived. Even though we were ready to order. When I questioned her she said she was sorry and she promised we would be seated upon her arrival. She arrived 10 minutes later, the hostess then told us to please wait and seated several other parties and left us standing on the side. When I asked again when we would be seated, she said we would have to wait 1.5 hours. I have never been treated so poorly in my life at ANY restaurant. I wavered about posting this for a few weeks but decided other people, AND the manager should know about it. At that point, it was too late to go elsewhere. The evening was ruined!

Probably the best vibe in Lancaster. Fantastic service. And everyone knows about the top-notch cocktails. Full point deducted for the sneaky service fees, I think it's 2 or 3 percent. They call it a kitchen fee or something.Vegetarian options: Limited options.
