Closed going to reopen as Keystone steaks new management

Came to Lancaster for a visit and had been craving a cheesesteak. This place was one of the first suggestions on yelp. Well we got there to find the place closed with paper in the windows. I'm hoping it wasn't a Covid casualty, but it looked like they might not be opening back up anytime soon. Makes me so sad.

New cheesesteak place in town. Was excited to try. I love me a good Philly cheese steak. Disappointed. The cook took a pile of precooked steak that was already mixed with cheese and heated it on the grill. Like who does that?! I understand wanting to cook it quick for your customers, but the point of cheesesteaks is the steak is very thin and cooks in seconds or minutes anyway. The girl behind the counter was on a call fighting with her boyfriend or fiancé and cursing him out. Finally got to me so I could pay. Just overall bad. Hopefully they improve, as they are still fairly new.

I have tried this place a couple times. I was rooting for them, but I will probably not return. I will echo what others say about staff interactions being strange and uncomfortable. In particular, there is a young man who works the counter who keeps a military style K-bar knife strapped to his hip. Last time I came in he was slurring his words. Setting aside the odd atmosphere and odd staff, the Cheesesteak I got was sub-par. The steak was made with ground beef instead of sliced beef, which is a bad start. I asked for their house special and they gave me the "duke". The Cheesesteak was treated to a red sauce dressing that made it taste like a sausage hoagie and had melted cooper sharp cheese on it. I was game to try it, but it wasn't my thing. I tried a regular steak the next time I visited. Still not impressed. Still made with ground beef. To any of you restaurateurs out there, CHEESE STEAKS SHOULD BE MADE WITH SHAVED BEEF. Really the only saving graces for this place are that 1) they use Amaroso's rolls, which are rarer than hen's teeth in Lancaster. 2) The last and final time I returned I got a tuna hoagie, which was delicious. While I was eating the tuna hoagie and wondering how they could get tuna so right and cheesesteaks so wrong, knife-boy decided to unload a clip of insane and confrontational ramblings on my wife (who didn't want anything) while he continued sipping from a cup in the cooler and slurring his words. I probably won't return which is a shame because the Tuna was gosh-dang tasty.

I’ve eaten here three times. Not only when they first opened but a couple months later. So far they gave: got the order wrong (chicken instead of steak), took most of my lunch break waiting even after calling ahead, and even given me the wrong change. I called when they were supposed to be open and I got a sleepy answering machine message. This place has given up right out of the gate.

Cheese Steaks are well worth the trip.. (my 2nd visit- - With many more to come).. May rate higher after trying other menu items ..right now I am stuck on " 'the Duke' Cheese steak !" Every visit I buy 2 'For Myself'. (1st visit.. I also bought a WHOLE wet bottom shoofly pie).

If you want great cheesesteaks, you had better come here! Loads of meat, excellent bread and cheese, perfectly cooked veggies and peppers....and red sauce I could drink. This place is right up there with Delassandro’s in my book. I don’t want fancy seating, I don’t want atmosphere...I want a great freaking cheesesteak and this place delivers.

I’ve lived in Lancaster all my life and since this place opened, I haven’t eaten a cheesesteak anywhere else. Stop in for some banging cheese steaks. Plus their open after 2am so why would you not stop in!

We walked in here on a whim while looking for lunch somewhere around the very crowded Central Market. I was surprised to walk in to an empty restaurant, but we weren't deterred, we were just hungry, and you generally can't go wrong with a cheesesteak. My wife and I decided to split "The Queen", which is a cheesesteak with some spices/seasonings, onions, and Blue Cheese. Yes, blue cheese. I can honestly say that this is hands-down the absolute BEST cheesesteak I have ever had in my life (and I've eaten a LOT of cheesesteaks). Using a good quality blue cheese on a cheesesteak is pure genius, and I don't understand why more places don't offer it. The blend of spices they use on the meat ( I don't know what it is) compliments everything perfectly, creating a mouthwatering sandwich. As I mentioned, my wife and I split a full sandwich, which comes with over a pound of meat on it, so 2 people can easily split one and walk away satisfied. She also offers half subs if you're in there by yourself and don't want to overdo it. We had a nice conversation with one of the owners, and she gave us some samples and told us about some of the menu items that she'll be offering in the future. Everything we tried was great, and some of the ideas she was pitching for new cheesesteaks sounded great, too. I wish I didn't live over 2 hours away, but coming back here would be worth the drive. Pretty sure we'll be back. You should definitely check this place out.

Just ok. Sandwich overly Salty. Odd service, heard more about the food prep not done the night before than anything positive while waiting for the sandwich to be made. Most uncomfortable seating arrangements around..between the seating and the staff conversations, I'd say take out only! Probably will go elsewhere next time.
