I spent a sunday afternoon with guests in town and showed them the Union Cafe. The atmosphere was nice as usual, the service good and the coffee as expected good too. But what blew my mind was the cake! We tried three different pieces and loved each single one! There was a very fresh carrot pineapple cake - amazing! And two cheesecakes in different variations - what a delight! And to mention the visitors were coming from Germany ;) Chapeau Union Cafe to your pastry chef!

We recently visited Coffee Union and were thoroughly impressed by their excellent coffee. The baristas at this cafe truly know their craft and delivered a rich and flavorful cup of coffee that surpassed our expectations. The ambiance of the cafe is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a good cup of joe. The staff was friendly and attentive, providing a pleasant overall experience. However, I must mention that the food options were quite limited and didn't quite meet our expectations. While the coffee was outstanding, the same level of quality was unfortunately not reflected in their food menu. If you're primarily seeking a great coffee experience, this is definitely worth a visit. However, if you're looking for a place with equally impressive food offerings, you might want to explore other options in the area.

The coffee is AMAZING, I had the cappuccino with 2 shots THREE TIMES at this place and Kilimanjaro black iced coffee once, both amazing. I had the carrot and pineapple cake once, super good. But the food was nothing to come back for, I had the quesadilla with beans and cheese and it was eatable but that's it.

It had been about 2 years since I last visited Union Cafe. For several years, this was the best place in town for expresso. Since then, Blossoms Cafe, located not far away has opened and makes an excellent espresso. But, this morning I decided to get some variety and try Union Cafe again. They had undergone a management change and I thought I should give it a chance. As soon as the expresso arrived I knew this was a big mistake. A double espresso typically is 60ml (2 ounces). This arrived in a half-filled mug, easily twice the amount of water used. One sip confirmed that this tasted nothing like an actual espresso. Based on this, I cannot rate Union Cafe even as one of the top 5 places for an expresso. I paid the bill and told the barista that the expresso was terrible. She seemed uneducated about making a espresso, so I left it at that.

I was here today with my friend to get a good coffee. I was shocked with the prices: one ice coffee costs 4$ ,than if you are asking for take away they are charging you more. Further more if you would like to pay by card: extra $-s are coming. Also no small cakes (next to the counter in a big jar,seemed complimentary cookies) for expats, you have to strongly ask few. But if a local small kid coming in got plenty as free, without coffee. I do not know what staff members think here, this is redicilous expensive and very poor service. Not nice at all. Never ever more and should not recommend to anybody. African people at countryside or in the mountains are faar tooo friendlier, Union Café should handle that as a good example!!!!

Great coffee and atmosphere. It is lovely to sit on the large veranda while watching the busyness of Moshi. They roast their own coffee.

we enjoyed our visit. menu is in english, staff speak english very well, bottled water available. i got the mediterranean platter, my husband got the veggie burger, and our friend got the veggie spaghetti as well as coffee. all were pleased. i didn't see many tanzanian meal options. the cafe is centrally located.

I liked going twice or three times to Union Cafe, one time the waitress was really rude from the very beginning!!! luckily other waiter was nicer after her.
Eat. Order food online as a student/ from an iPad on a pillar. Good variety but just know that quality is sub-par because students are always learning to be better at preparing food.

Nice cafe opposite Mama Africa Gift Shop. Perfect combination. Building and interior hints at bygone eras. Lovely balcony to sit on. Good coffee and nice food. Reasonable prices and good service. Perfect!

They have a lot of western food and the prices are unreasonable They take as well a long time to bring the food, we waited for 40min just to get coffee+cake

We'd stopped off in Moshi en route home from a long journey and had looked up good places. We arrived with our 3 hungry/tired children hoping for a relatively quick service and some decent food. We waited for about an hour for the food to arrive and when it did, there were 2 issues 1) the described chicken wrap was very disappointing and definitely not worth waiting for an hour for and 2) the burgers we had ordered were the wrong ones that the 2 kids couldn't eat. We were really disappointed with the service, the food and the timing. Couldn't comment on the coffee, which sounds like it is good but the food and other factors were below average.
