“Very boutique. Maybe I was there at an odd hour but there were no basic pastries offered. The options were very intricate and the ingredients were not obvious which made it hard to decide. I could have easily been satisfied with a fresh donut or pound cake. I ended up with a chocolate beignet which was too much chocolate for my preference.“

“Delicious food and excellent flavor combinations. Much of the food is meat but I absolutely recommend for vegetarians. The cauliflower mezze was extremely well-flavored, the chickpea and eggplant mezze had fantastic texture, and the oyster mushroom kebab was one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever had.“

“The service was phenomenal. The food, delicious. Best italian restaurant in Philly, the closest thing I've seen so far to an authentic italian restaurant in Philly (I stayed in Italy for 6 weeks). We got the tiramisu and gelato, and we got the carbonara and pappardelle al ragù. All of it was just so good. I wanna come back again, but I need to save up for it because it was very pricey. But worth it.“

“Food is great very creative I’d recommend the shrimp taco, new favorite place drinks are good too not watered down like other places. Service here is awesome. Leah is great our second visit she remembered my name she treats her regulars like we visit everyday. At one point I thought she was the owner bc she does such a great job running the place. This is now my favorite place to go.“

“A cute pet-friendly cafe with a persimmon theme in Fishtown. It might be a popular spot in the neighborhood as it was busy on a Sunday morningSide note: My friend recommended me Drift Magazine for city coffee guide and I was excited to flip the physical copies there. We ordered latte and cappuccino. Very smooth coffee with a nutty espresso base. Well-frothed milk gave a creamy texture. Loved the latte art on top. The porcelain mugs and coasters they used were cute. Their pastries looked attractive to serve with coffee too.“

“I think this might be my favorite café on the east coast?Every once in a while I stumble upon a coffee gem randomly and that’s exactly what happened on this Philly trip.Ordered a pour over and asked the staff to make me whatever they suggest. I was not expecting to have one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had. When the staff mentioned, “notes of bergamot,” I didn’t take him seriously but my mind was seriously blown on the first sip. Never had that flavor in a coffee before (I drink and try a lot of coffee) and I’ve been thinking about it for the past week. Loved it so much, had to order something else. Also got a cinnamon roll because I saw people loved it. Thought it was good, but also thought it was like any other laminated pastry LOL will probably order it again though. What I loved about the staff was their knowledge and interest in coffee. In fact, I just went to a cafe in nyc hoping for the same experience. Ordered a coffee tasting flight, but got no explanation about what was from where or anything else and kept comparing it to my time at Thank You Thank You.If you love coffee, this is your spot.“

“Charming brunch spot nestled in a corner in Old City. I’d be a regular if I lived locally. Very similar to something you’d find in Alphabet City, NYC. Staff is nice and food was super fresh and flavorful, beautiful and mouth watering presentation. Rating 4 only because no non-dairy options and I was dying for coffee, and my daughter didn’t get her French toast until 4 of our party of 6 were already finished with our meals. Ordered 2 veg omelets, lox Benny, chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes, and French toast. Sorry no pics of the pancakes. Kids were too hungry. The egg dishes came out first, then the pancakes, with the French toast maybe 15-20 min later. Just need a little more attentive waitstaff but aside from that, great place to eat once you’re served!“

“I’ve gone in twice for birthday cakes. I’m horribly last-minute, but luckily they always have already-made birthday cakes for sale which are DELICIOUS. They’re super flavorful without being too much, and they’re beautiful to look at. Plus they can write a message on the cake very quickly. I’m a fan!“
“I had the early gray milk tea with pearl boba and milk foam. It was amazing and they even put it in my reusable 16oz coffee cup!The place is so clean and the gentleman behind the counter was super helpful. I will for sure be back to try other flavors.“

“I lived in Seattle for almost two decades and will admit to being a bit of a coffee shop snob. The Nook hits so many of my high points. Extremely good locally roasted coffee (in-house!). Amazing baked goods. The cocoa coffee bread must be tried, but leave me a slice! Great staff. If I ever move out of the neighborhood, I'll journey to the Nook for a great cup and bite.“

“Just moved into the neighborhood & decided to take a walk. I saw this tucked inside a little shopping center & now I regret it. Should have stuck with Dunkin Donuts bc after eating an everything bagel w/cream cheese from there, I’m addicted. I almost walked back for another one it was that good AND I don’t want to be addicted to another carb. Lol. I more than likely will get my fix tomorrow. Great customer service & very friendly. I have a new bagel place.“

“Located in the heart of Chinatown, another establishment that doesn't take credit cards. Instead payment is via Venmo. So I guess that great since you don't need to pay tax. They have a limited selection of baked goods (see photos) and drinks. Menu is a bit chaotic to read (but this is Chinatown). Baked items are very fresh. Limited seating inside though. Prices are cheap for this economy.“

We received so many positive reviews for the cakes, especially the mango mousse. The cakes were the perfect size also, presented beautifully, and all in all we thought added a really special touch to our celebration.Lynn and her staff at the South Street location are super friendly, helpful and were great to work with in the preparation for this event. “There were no tables available when we got there in the afternoon so we ordered takeout. We split a Philly cheesesteak and a kale salad. “Very nice hidden gem for a coffee or tea stop. The coffee was great. To be honest the tea was ok. So if I may give the very nice owners a suggestion; choose for very good teas like Damman or Rishi (e.g.). Then also for tea drinkers (or mixed couple as we) they will be even more worth wile to go. And btw; one teabag is probably enough. They also have some pastries, pancakes and panini. Very nice interior with lovely background music. I believe they started not long ago so we wish them good business“

“Service is both friendly and kind. We ordered an oat latte and an almond milk flat white to stay. We wanted to get pastries but at the time they had none left. I guess they make them little by little throughout the day because they told us more would be ready in twenty minutes or so. The presentation and execution is lovely. And I love the minimalist aesthetic. And there were several outlets available throughout the cafe for patrons doing some work. Plus points for a spacious and clean bathroom!“

“This place gives me nostalgia. There’s something about it that reminds me of being in Burlington Vermont coupled with the laidback apathetic individuality of living through 90s grunge era and listening to Elliott Smith and Neutral Milk Hotel. The interior aesthetic isn’t try hard (they showcase local art on the walls and theres a less-is-more vibe), but theres still a cozy sip-slow-and-linger feel. What sets it apart from other places for me is the muted warmth from the people who work there. The kind where you know if you become a regular you’ll get a half smile and they might remember your name, really adds to the overall charm. And even if this place had none of that going for it, the breakfast sandwiches alone are worth a 30-minute walk. Not only are they only like 6 bucks, but they are delicious. The eggs are incredibly well-seasoned, fluffy, and scrumptious. They also have unique lattes, like Cinnamon Toast Crunch (it actually tastes like it) and their matchas are spot on.Even though there’s at least a dozen coffee shops much closer to us, this is our go-to.“

“A great place. Been open many years. Recently on TV for their Anniversary. Sometimes crowded but they are quick and move fast. You can get breakfast sandwiches all day which is a plus. Coffee very good, another plus. Only takes cash, no big deal to me. Grew up in South Philly and local neighborhood places the same. Got scrapple, egg & cheese, bacon, egg & cheese, peppers , egg & cheese. All outstanding. Owner Bruce and his wife working up front, working, greeting and monitoring everything.“

“I've tried Top Hat Coffee Lounge by the UPenn campus, but I'm glad I discovered this new location! It's definitely hidden within a plaza and is situated within the walkway as you exit Saks Fifth Avenue. While the space is small, there is still plenty to order in terms of drinks and several pastries as well. The staff greeted us with a very warm welcome and was patient while we decided on our drinks. My friend and I both ordered oat matcha lattes, which were delicious and tasted like high-quality matcha as we were told :) The added perk is that he did not charge us for substituting our milk with oat milk, so thank you for that!“

“Sheryl and I are from Houston Area. We did a day trip up to Philadelphia and were looking for some small breakfast and coffee. As we walked through the streets, we were looking for some coffee and small breakfast... NON STARBUCKS. We love supporting local businesses no matter where we are at. We ran into this place and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed it! The atmosphere was great! The people were amazing! Everybody was friendly! Even being from out of town we felt very welcomed, and like this could be our Neighborhood coffee place! Wish you were down here! “Small little restaurant that was pretty empty when we went on Thursday afternoon. Food came out fast. Green tea was a little mid Scallion pancakes had great flavor and texture 8/10 Shrimp rice wrapper was decent 7/10 The pork bun was huge, not exactly the size of 4 little buns but still a considerable amount. 6/10 Shrimp balls were fun. I'm used to the type with the little wonton flakes or whatever it is coming off of it but this had a soft exterior. Great amount of meat, good texture 9/10 My gf wanted to come here just because of the sticky rice and it was decent 7/10. Kind of what you can expect from looking at the picture“

“For true coffee snobs this is the real deal. They care about the coffee, and take the time to make it right. The cortado was the right balance of creaminess and smooth, and on the bright side with lots of citrus for those who like that in a roast. My friends had a latte, and a strawberry matcha oatmilk latte, all reportedly delicious. Note that if you like a darker, more chocolatey roast this might not be the place for you.“

“The best place to have some coffee in the center city, continently located!Service is always great and friendly. There are long lines during rush hours, so plan ahead. It can be super crowded during lunch time as well. Try their strawberry matcha latte (iced or hot) - that’s my favorite there.“

“We checked out the Ground Up Cafe & Coffee shop last week in South Philly. This a great little coffee shop on East Passyunk. The decor was simple and fun with just a hint of an European vibe. Bistro seating was available inside and outside. It was very comfortable overall. The menu offered many choices from prepared sandwiches to baked goods. I wasn’t planning on eating, but then I saw scones - I had to try one. Cranberry - and it was delicious! The coffee was also very good (definitely made note of that for the next time I am in the neighborhood). “Very nice quiet atmosphere. Very peaceful and I loved seeing the daughter and Mom duo. It's was refreshing to see considering I brought my daughter along with me. The Boba my daughter ordered wasn't sweet to her liking, and she was going to add additional sugar, however the owner called my daughter over to fix the drink. It's the little things and this business has it! ❤️“
“My partner booked Le Cat Cafe for my birthday and it was AWESOME! The staff is super sweet and knowledgeable, able to answer all your questions about the kitties, and helped my partner set up the food and beverage we brought in. “Clean minimal shop with quality matcha products and great ice cream.Strawberry and earl grey swirl are my current go to after dinner in Chinatown, however it is a seasonal flavor so get it while you can. I’ve also had the hojicha float which was refreshing and had a deep roasted nutty flavor with an edge of bitterness. What I enjoy most about this place is the typical Asian compliment when it comes to dessert “not so sweet”.Surreal is quite trendy but I find myself becoming quickly tired of it due to amount, all the toppings, and just the overall sweetness of the ice cream whereas matcha Maiko has the perfect amount of sweetness to remind you it’s a treat but not to the point where halfway through you feel like need water or tea to tone down the sugar“

“Stopped in after a doctor's appointment to grab some breakfast. It's easy to walk by the place and not realize it's there. The service was slow but friendly. They have a really nice seating area upstairs. Lots of sun and artwork. I had a toffee nut latte which was disappointing. The espresso was burned and the latte didn't have much flavor. The bagel sandwich on the otherhand was delicious! A nice soft everything bagel with real egg and sausage. Very tasty. I will probably try it again at some point to give the coffee another shot.“

“I revisit Joy Cafe (which is the newest name/incarnation for Soy Cafe) whenever I'm in NoLibs. It always leaves me feeling incredibly healthy and happy. Soy/Joy Cafe is in my top two vegan restaurants in all of Philly. My favorite dish here is the ramen with BBQ seitan. The seitan is just so very tasty. Everything here, from the seitan, to the vegan cream cheese, is homemade. My husband gets the carrot lox sandwich which includes the housemade cream cheeze along with red onions, carrot lox, and more, on many choices of really excellent bread. Don't leave without getting a smoothie! I tend to get the Green Giant, but the Coco Loco is also really yummy. Eat in the back garden on a nice day!“

“I visited this neighborhood restaurant before. As a couple, we could only try so much of their offerings.Last night was with a large group, which turned out to be fabulous because, thanks to our sharing of all their appetizers and entrees, I had the opportunity to sample much of their menu.I would be remiss if I didn't mention the bartenders' skill and passion in mixing up any cocktail you may wish to have. The wait staff was attentive, accommodating, and professional. The food; lamb tartare, red beet carpaccio, goose/foie gras terrine, duck breast, baked fluke, spinach/ricotta gnocchi, cheddar stuffed hush puppies, double cheeseburger, and the 26oz bone-in ribeye. Everything was amazing, even the 2 desserts and cheese plate, which I only tasted because....too much. We did, for the record, ask for seconds on the duck breast, as it was simply superb. Now, I must say that the wine list, for such a fantastic food line up, was very disappointing. What you see on the menu by the glass, is what is offered by the bottle. Slim pickings. All and all, great drinks and food. Will surely be back.Cheers!“
