Wow. Was not expecting to find some of the best Mexican food I've had in a random strip mall at the back of a grocery store. Place is low-key and decorated colorfully. Food was well-priced, so flavorful, and very fresh. I got the fish tacos, which again were very fresh, and were a great vehicle for their many delicious salsas. Love the giant salsa bar--will need to come back just to try them all. Husband got a pollo special that was almost like a chicken stew with a thick orange cream and he devoured it. We're confident the rest of the extensive menu is just as good. Service was fast and friendly. They don't have a line to leave tip when you pay with credit card so maybe tip in cash if you want to. Def adding this place into regular rotation.

I came to El Primo recently after not being here for a few years. Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant was packed on a Friday evening--which is always a good sign. I ordered a chipotle shrimp taco order, and my friends ordered a bunch of other things (but I forgot to take a pic). My dish was great! Flavorful with diverse textures and ingredients. This felt fairly healthy, and this order lasted as 3 meals for me, so the value was there! This is as authentic as it gets. Service is nice and helpful, and the ambiance was lively. My friends all enjoyed their meals too! Thanks for another great meal, El Primo :)

Mexican store in the front, mexican restaurant towards the back of the store. I ordered tacos and they were very authentic. The tacos were a great serving size, not too small. Their service was amazing! The waitresses were so kind and kept a smile. I arrived pretty late and they still gave me amazing service.

As a Mexican American from Southern California living in the Philadelphia area, it is difficult to find good authentic Mexican food and groceries. This place has both. It's obvious from the minute you see it, smell it, and take a few steps in the door. They have everything you could want, a decent prices, and very high quality.I've only eaten in the restaurant once, but both of the pozole, and the menudo were absolutely fantastic. I will certainly be returning for more.

Totally awesome place, very authentic. Food is exceptional. The ambience feels like you sit somewhere in Mexico you would never think from the outside that this little gem is hidden in there. I can highly recommend.

This taqueria is the real deal. It's NOT Americanized at all which means it's totally authentic. You will feel as though you've been transported to Mexico when you walk through the market towards the restaurant in the back. The salsa bar is stocked with a selection of daily house made salsas. The agua frescas also made daily. Can't wait to return. The service is great and the ambiance is what you would expect, lots of color, lots to look at, fabulous.

A Mecca for anyone seeking the gourmet cuisine of Puebla, Mexico. The restaurant that flourishes in the back of this store has the best Mexican food in the greater Philadelphia area. Try their broths seasoned to original perfection, beans that melt in your mouth with lingering peefume, even a punch from papaya and melon. Everything spicy, sweet but just acid and fatty enough to please the senses. A feat and a feast.Vegetarian options: Ask for anything without meat "sencillo" and it becomes a vegetarian delight.

Food is extremely great and keeps you full at a good price, they are all good but especially the carne asada and chorizo. The service and speed have been much better over the years. I will admit however, there will be a chance your food will be messed up once in a while, but it's still a great place and one of the best in town. It's very close to a 5 in my book, but the order may be messed up once in a while.

Very friendly service! Unlike many taquerias, they bring a basket of chips to your table. On this visit we were also offered a sampling of all of their fresh juices - delicious! There is also a large salsa bar! It is not the fanciest atmosphere by any means, but it is comfortable.
