My fav restaurant in Philly. Steak and chocolate Cuban cigar are so good. Ambience is the best- very cool vibe. Great for bday parties and going out with friends or date night. Hope you stay open and business stays good during the pandemic. I hope to visit soon!

Sexy. Intimate. Good drinks. Latin flare. Food has never ever been knock your socks off exceptionally amazing. Good. But not that. Go once for the experience. Maybe you'll go back. Worth checking out. Very very very young crowd

The Culinary Adventures of Tom Coghlan, FB November 23, 2018 · The third Starr Restaurant I chose in my Starr Restaurant series was Alma de Cuba...An award-winning collaboration with chef Douglas Rodriguez. On Walnut Street between 16th and 17th, it's a Caribbean oasis in the heart of Philadelphia. I arrived solo for Happy Hour and seated myself at the bar... My first order of business was quenching my thirst... I did so with a Mojito or three... after some consideration I ordered Rainbow Ceviche, Shrimp Ceviche, Empanadas De Verde and Smoked Wahoo Tacos. The Rainbow Ceviche and Shrimp Ceviche were served in two small glasses on the same plate. The Rainbow Ceviche consisted of raw salmon, tuna and yellowtail cured in citrus juices and spices. The Shrimp Ceviche had cooked shrimp in similar citrus juices and spices. Both were very good and a perfect way to warm up for what was to follow...The Empanadas De Verde yuca creamed spinach, Manchego cheese, green plantain dough & artichoke escabeche came next. They looked a bit like perogies and were stuffed with lots of vegetarian goodies. I enjoyed them thoroughly... Lastly, I was served the Smoked Wahoo Tacos, crispy malanga shells, rum smoked wahoo salad, iceberg lettuce & pickled jalapeño. Incredible! They were served on a taco board in hard shells and were delicious!... With so much more on the menu that I want to try I will HAVE to return for more adventures!

It's a little too dark inside but it's a delicious restaurant nonetheless. Perfect date spot for delicious food. Always have had an amazing time here

This is my go to place for a guaranteed great food/ambience. The menu always has a few new dishes but the Cuban-twist on their ceviche are truly amazing - you cannot go wrong with ordering the entire ceviche platter as a starter if there are 3 or more people

Alma de Cuba walks the line between elegance and fustiness with aplomb. Both beautiful and welcoming this five star treat hits you right in the pleasure center delivering on all fronts - effortless service, inventive cocktails and a menu that restores your faith in anything that doesn't have to coast on their reputation. I could go on for days about their Royal Date appetizer and Seafood Rice entree but why bother, go discover them for yourself as you indulge in a dining experience that is both rare and worth every shekel.

Cool place to meet and catch up with coworkers. Prices are reasonable. Kinda of like a cafe in Phoenix that I enjoyed.

This was a wonderful birthday experience! They provided a customizable menu and cake options. The food was absolutely delicious. 2yrs later my friends still talk about how tasty my birthday dinner was! They were able to accommodate my large group and still provide us with privacy and special attention. I will definitely be back. This would also be a great date night restaurant. AND I think they have a cigar room of sorts. I can’t wait for this place to reopen!

My husband took me here the night we got engaged. He knew I was a huge foodie and he knocked out of the park with this choice. So many ceviche selections, the cheese bread, the mojito taste tests--everything was delicious and the environment was cozy. We were just about to book for our anniversary and we're sad to see it is temporarily closed. We sincerely hope Alma de Cuba reopens so that we can celebrate and enjoy their food for years to come.

Not every pricey Latin food restaurant is worth it. Alma de Cuba is. It was the first restaurant I went to when I first was looking to move to Philly and was interviewing for jobs... back in the spring of 2001! It's still amazing, and I can't wait to go back after this pandemic is over with!
