Came here for the first time after seeing the highly rated reviews. Wow, they are well-deserved! Almost hidden in the Jewelers' Row District is a small, hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop that will have you leaving with a big impression: their hoagies are just fantastic! I ordered a 10" roast beef hoagie with lettuce, onion, tomato, hot peppers, provolone, and mayo, and almost had difficulty finishing it because the sub was packed! Everything tasted fresh, and I was pleasantly surprised that the hot peppers actually had some heat to them.Pam, who rang me up, is a very sweet person, and the shop is run by her and Joe. The owners recommend calling in to place orders as it takes some time to slice everything fresh, and today they actually sold out early afternoon as I was finishing my hoagie. Keep in mind this was a Wednesday. Needless to say, I will be coming back!

My coworkers raved about this place, so I treated myself and my family about a month ago. We enjoyed our hoagies so much. The food is fresh and holds up well! I purchased on a Friday. Ate half then and finished on Sunday,my hoagie was still tasty on Sunday. Needless to say, I purchased 5 more hoagies today.Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is a ramp, no steps.

Best hoagie in Philly. Owners run it very well and solid prices. Soooo delicious. Everything is very fresh, fresh cuts. Always feel like I'm back at the deli with my fam when I'm there. Support your local businesses like these and they'll treat you right!

Fantastic Italian hoagies. Grew up in Philly, found this place by accident. Almost hidden in jewelry row, limited hours. Walking in feels like you someone's kitchen. Hoagie is spectacular. Seeded bread is amazing. Meats are really high quality. Salami is delicate. Fresh. Lady working their is really sweet. They are HUGE. I am guy, and 1 is enough to share.... Cannot overstate how fricking amazing hoagies. Far better than Italian market.....

This was the most delicious Italian sub I’ve ever had! Even the pickle was perfection. 10/10 authentic deli experience and we would come back anytime!

I live across the country, this is where I come for the real stuff when I travel back home to Philly. Fresh everything, perfect hoagies, and classic super friendly people running the joint.

Came here for an Italian hoagie and it did not disappoint! Their “small” is a very generous portion everything tasted so fresh. The ham was the best I’ve ever had?? Sliced very thin and it was fresh and delicious. Lots of friendly smiles here.

American Joes is a throwback to the old traditional ways of making a phenomenal hoagie. Absolute best hoagie you can get, hands down. Not to mention the prices are perfect for a hoagie of this quality and the folks here are always friendly. Give it a try and you’ll be telling your friends about it.
