If you’re looking for a 80’s/90’s gay atmosphere Bike Stop is for you. The atmosphere is fantastic.

I used to go there all the time and it was my go-to bar. After a hiatus I went there with my boyfriend and we can't stand the main bar. The entire main floor smells like a dirty urinal. We have to go to the lower level, 'The Pit' (which is supposed to be the 'grunge' bar' to be able to breath.

Had to get on my soap box about this because this has been bothering me for months. Frankly, as a young member of the LGBTQ+ community, going into queer bars is still a relatively new and exciting experience for me. And unfortunately, like many gay bars, this was very disheartening. Went on a regular Saturday night, after being recommended to go. Bouncers were friendly, which set a good tone. Walked inside and immediately felt unwelcome. We ventured downstairs and did not even make it to the bar when two men behind us loudly said, "we love our allies, but know your place." After that, we just left. This review is not so much a critique of the establishment (couldn't even rate the drinks), but who it caters to. Being queer is something I have known for a very long time and feel empowered in, but in that moment I genuinely felt shameful for entering a queer space. For someone to assume my gender and sexuality with one swift remark really goes to show how much we have internalized as queer people... We should be empowered and banded together instead of categorically denying membership. Guess I'll have to try my luck at dyke night.

Probably the best bar in town but has much unrealized potential… there’s two floors above the main floor that they only open for special events, meanwhile on some regular weekends the bottom and main floors are fully packed to capacity. Drinks are average priced. Crowd is usually very friendly and fun. The WiFi never works

No food but don't want them to be poorly rated. Just a leather themed adult gay bar with good music and a "heavy atmosphere" not for everyone. It was fun. Think Al Pacino in "Cruising" Was like Phillys version of NYCs Eagle. Def not a place for families or kids.

The most authentic gay bar in Philadelphia. if you are a member or Ally of the lgbtq+ community you are family here. It’s one of the oldest spaces held for lgbtq+ folx in town rich with history and it has a rock n roll dive bar vibe with friendly patrons. The root beer on tap is divine.

As of June 12, 2023 someone had stolen the sign for Pride, so it’s unmarked! ??️‍??️‍⚧️This is what the entrance looks like:

Went with a friend a few nights ago who goes very frequently. Each had the same drink and 2 shot of tequila like he usually does. With 2 of us we worked it out it should have been about 35-40 bucks. But the next morning i noticed i was charged 60 which was odd. I dont recommend using a card just use cash instead.

I used to go there for Star Trek night in the late 90s. I used to go to Happy Hour there on Friday nights in the early 2000s when they'd show old 1950s and 1960s science fiction movies. There used to be a traveling buffet back then. They'd often give out Jell-O shots on Saturday nights. They had a store in the basement. They had a disco on the 3rd floor. My fave bartender was Rick on the 1st floor. I heard it's different now, and I guess it would be. Anyone else remember the late 90s-early 2000s?

Great spot... eclectic crowd, free to be ones self. Strong drinks and was excited to find the basement that we didn't know about at first. My bf lost his phone and we went back, found it and they had even charged it up. We will be going back next time in Philly.

I so miss the Bike Stop. I lived in Philadelphia 2000-2003. The Bike Stop was everything to me as a bear cub to getting to know the leather and BDSM community, but also just as an amazing neighborhood hangout. While I appreciated everyone, I often think of bartender Anthony, usually in late afternoons to early evenings on like early week shifts....with a deep accent, "Right or wrong, Dougie? Right or wrong" And answering back "Right, Anthony". Big guy but elementary teacher you could never imagine--big, muscley guy. The Bike Stop was filled with contrasts of what you would assume...leather guys being so sweet, bears and cubs...God, let me tell you, living in Wisconsin, so many affectations...The Bike Stop is the real deal and not trying to pretend to be something it's not. I hope to get back, at least for a visit, soon. The Philly attytood I learned to love and miss. Rev Douglas Fauth
