Best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten. Beautiful place with a lot of history and very classy. Everything was great from the appetizer to the main course and dessert. A definite 5 star restaurant.

True old world Italian cooking artistry. Opened in 1899 Dante and Luigi's is one of the oldest restaurants in Philadelphia PA. It is certainly the oldest Italian eatery in Philly. Cozy with well dressed wait staff and old world decor. The food tells the story here. I have eating there since college. I took my dates there when I was 18. I go for the food. Delicious is the keyword. Savory tomato sauces, tender meats and exquisite desserts if you have the room after eating your meal. On my recent visit I had pasta fagoli and a side of roasted peppers and provolone to start and their homemade lasagna for the main course. Everything was scrumptious. Even though I was bordering on I can't eat another bite I had the tiramisu for dessert. I couldn't resist. Dante and Luigi is easily my favorite Italian restaurant and a cut about the rest.

The best Italian restaurant in the country. From the atmosphere to the food. Penne vodka is always my go to meal. The apps & drinks are always terrific. We love the tiramisu 10/10.

Nice, old school american italian fare. Service was excellent and I look forward to going back.
Everything was stellar. I think our server Frank was the best part though-- really personable, funny, and helpful, kept our drinks full without hovering. The other reviews that I read said that this place isn't super family friendly, but we thought it absolutely was (we brought a toddler and a baby). We got the earliest possible reservation and basically had the place to ourselves for the first hour and a half. They gave us a booster for the toddler. We got the eggplant rollantini, which our toddler LOVED (and we did too), a bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer, and Caesar salad, all of which were excellent. For dinner we got gnocchi, veal parmigiana, a chicken caprese special (VERY good), and a shrimp-and-crab pasta special, which was by far the best dish we got. Our toddler ate probably half of it by herself. Everything was delicious, the people were all very kind and accommodating, and we definitely want to come back. As soon as possible!
Old school genuinely Italian place in South Philly. You must.

Great dinner for a classy special occasion. Not wildly pricey for the high quality & authentic Italian food (not Sicilian) with healthy portions. Stars for the swirled perfection of the Eggplant Rollantini and Veal Bracciole! The spicy marinara gravy with clams and creamy seafood risotto! The triumphant Tira misu and espresso martini! Charming service and dining spaces made for an excellent evening!Vegetarian options: Limited options for full vegetarian, but excellent eggplant, mushrooms, and seafood.

Food and service were great with the exception of dessert; the cake was dry and almost inedible. Everything else was excellent!
