Not only was the food beyond delicious our server Lucia was so sweet!! We had kind of a large party for breakfast and we had some of the best service we’ve had in Philly. Everyone here looks like they love what they do…they even brought us over free cake and cookies when they heard us singing happy birthday to someone in our party. Fan for life.

Famous for a reason! Food was SO good, and despite being really busy, they quickly sat and served us. The cake options are the size of an actual small cake! It’ll be a must-visit for us on our next South Street trip in Philly.

I'm very disappointed in this place. I came in for take out TODAY and I should've checked everything in the bag. I didn't get everything I ordered and paid for. I asked for five cookies and got two. I asked for a bologna sandwich and didn't get that at all (thank God that wasn't on the check) and the sandwiches are a fraction of their former size! Had I'd known the very nice guy would cheat me, I certainly would not have wasted so much money! They are off my list!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!UPDATE: I drove a half hour back to the store to get what I paid for and actually received it and more. Thank you Sean for honoring my receipt and wanting to fix the issue. The food I got this time was very good.PSA: Check your order BEFORE leaving the store, any store.

Has been around for a long time but I've actually had better sandwiches. I got the roast beef sandwich. Now I will say they give you so much meat that you can make another sandwich out of. However the roast beef was so dry I gave it to my dog. Only a couple of pieces in the beginning was perfect but stuffed inside was all dry. The bread was to die for tho.

I always go back for the corned beef. Best corned beef I've ever had! I'm visiting for extended training for my job and this will definitely be one of the things that I miss when I go back home. The bakery items are always great! Their breakfast sandwiches are great too. There is a bit of a wait if you're not sitting down at their in house restaurant, so if you don't want to stand around for a while and want to do takeout. I suggest calling in an order. I did an online order the first time I visited and it got lost and I had to reorder in person. The staff were quick to help with the issue. I went back a couple times after that even because the food was that good.

Corned beef special. Very lean, good flavor. Short on the Russian dressing. Coleslaw was tasty. The bread was chewy but supported the $25.00 sandwich that was too big to get your mouth around. I wasn't a fan of the pickle.

Review from my toddler: "That place was cool cool cool. They have cookies and cake and I eat it all!!"We split 2 entrees & desserts between four adults and 3 kids and still had leftovers! Comfort food in extremely generous portions.

We travelled over 1,100 miles with the 4th Street deli in mind for lunch & it absolutely did not disappoint.Fortunately we were eating with a group, so were able to try a number of things. The tuna salad was huge and tasty. The chicken soup was good- though not nearly the star of the show. The breaded chicken cutlet sandwich was de-lish, and the pickles were great- which is one of the MUST haves for a good deli (and most places fall short). However, the pastrami, corned beef, and turkey sandwich on rye with coleslaw & Russian dressing- FANTASTIC! They make their own corned beef and pastrami- which made the trip worth it.Oh, and the portions- as a good deli should be- ample the way your grandma wanted you to eat!For an encore- the strawberry shortcake had us talking for three days!We can’t recommend it strongly enough. A Philadelphia institution.

This was the classic Deli experience I was hoping for. The knish was delightful, pastrami delicious but the blintz took the cake. It was dare I say... better than my Nana's. Be sure to get it with the apple sauce which I'm fairly certain is house made. I will most certainly be
