Went last week and had an amazing experience especially the assistance we received from our waitress and the pastry chef. I had the one of the special entrees of the day- duck breast and since I’m not drinking, their lavender lemonade was both cute and tasty. A little tart, but very lemonadey. My husband got a ton a stuff that I don’t remember, but he enjoyed every drink, appetizer ( it was a tuna bonbon special) and entree. I’ve driven past this place for years, so it was great to finally pop in. Added bonus, located in northwest Philly which is such an amazing part of the city.

My dining experience at Jansen was outstanding, earning a perfect ten out of ten. The waitstaff were both attentive and personable, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The menu featured flavorful drinks and distinctive, well-crafted dishes that impressed me thoroughly. This meal has placed Jansen at the top of my list for the best restaurants in Philadelphia.I started with the appetizer special of the day, the big eye tuna bonbon, delicately wrapped in avocado and resting on a flavorful sauce. It was an excellent choice—the tuna was fresh, of sushi-grade quality, and each bite was enhanced by the delicious sauce. For my main course, I chose the sautéed halibut. Cooking halibut can be challenging as it often becomes tough, but here it was cooked to perfection. It was served over roasted sunchokes with pieces of lobster and a black garlic cream that added depth to the dish.For my drinks, I started with the Smoke and Mirraha. Which is their take on a mezcal and old fashioned, highly recommend. I finished with an espresso martini, which they make the liquor in-house with vodka and it is easily a top 3 best espresso martini in Philadelphia.As a special celebration of discovering whether we were having a boy or a girl, I requested a dessert that could reveal the gender with either blue or pink filling. The chef creatively prepared a delightful cannoli cone with a surprise filling, making the celebration even more special.I highly recommend Jansen, not only for an exceptional meal but also for a memorable fine dining experience outside the downtown city center area.

Wow!!!! What a lovely restaurant. Every dish was to die for. I went with the special because I was drooling while the waiter told me what they were. I had an avocado/tuna “bon-bon” with a mustard base sauce - so amazing. The corn & crab soup was so smooth, buttery, and warm. The duck gnocchi was some of the best duck and gnocchi I’ve ever had. The restaurant is in a historic building and has a very cozy patio. Service was excellent, and the head chef is so knowledgeable about cuisine, he’s very friendly and he makes the experience feel like home if you have the pleasure of meeting him. Highly recommend, the reviews absolutely live up to the hype! Worth every penny.

Judgmental, hurried, unwelcoming, could-NOT-careless-waitstaff Joe really made this evening a drag restaurant-wise; EXCEPT the LOVELY company made it a night for which I am grateful.Nice fireplace.He was not knowledgeable about the food. Acted like we were doing him a favor.Dismissive.Rude.Had high expectations for food; food was just ok, good, fine.Presented amuse bouche- Did not tell us what it was. Not specifically noteworthy. Was fish even though one of us in reservation is vegetarian and they asked and we clarified. Served vegetarian the fish.Bye-bye. Won’t bother to come back.Vegetarian options: The waiter told my guest there was one item only for her. Said something was veg but when we asked him to check - insert eye roll here- heAdmitted no it was not ( rennet)The vegetarian is SO flexible - eats easily everywhere; would have been fine except this guy dismissed her.

Me and my girlfriend of two years came here for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner the weekend before since both of us have extremely hectic work schedules. Jansen did not disappoint.I requested the beef wellington in advance as advised on the online menu, which also stated that it would be carved tableside with an assortment of seasonal sides (which in this case was roasted brussels, olive oil mash potatoes and portobello mushrooms stuffed with bacon and foie gras). The portions were so generous that we were able to eat half before having the rest wrapped up. Our dopamine receptors were smashed after eating here. Plus, the appetizers (butternut squash soup) and the dessert (love cake) were absolute pleasures. PLUS since neither of us drink, the waiter recommended excellent mocktails. Couldn't have loved this more!

My sons took me to dinner at Jansen while my husband was traveling because they had such a great experience previously. I was not disappointed. From the friendly greeter at the door, to our amazing waitress, Veronica, everything was exceptional. We had ordered the beef wellington in advance, and it was served tableside, which was a special treat and much appreciated. Everything was cooked to perfection, all the way down to the sticky toffee pudding. Great ambience as well, with quiet, relaxing music and good use of space for seating. Thank you to all for a lovely evening. We hope to return soon!
