This is my go-to place for special occasions, like getting an A (or even a B+) in my Penn Law courses. CONGRATULATIONS to the owner for an incredible four years! I've been enjoying Kaseiki's sashimi bowls since the start of the pandemic and have always had wonderful experiences with them. The ingredients are always fresh and even the basic bowls, like their signature Anniversary Bowl, are very artistically done and taste great. I highly recommend the Second Anniversary Bowl, an upgrade that includes delicately prepared scallop, the sweetest shitake mushrooms you've ever had, and mouth-watering, delicious O-toro! The prices are high, but the quality is also high, so it's definitely worth it! Looking forward to enjoying a Chirashi bowl in person someday.

The absolute highest quality sashimi I've had in Philly! Kaiseki is definitely on the pricier side, but you're paying for incredible quality and ingredients. I am continually disappointed by Japanese food in Philly, especially sushi and sashimi, but I was delightfully surprised by how good every single thing in this bowl was. This was my birthday dinner and I savored every last bite. I've never had tuna that soft and their pickled ginger was made with real ginger not that pink stuff - it was the only time I've ever actually eaten it! While I can't justify spending this much on dinner regularly, Kaiseki is my new favorite special occasion spot and I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Great experience getting takeout for our party from here! This place is the perfect balance of higher quality fish for a good price. I loved being able to get a bowl that included otoro and really good akami, which are often hard to find. And they were amazing with our varied dietary restrictions.

Had a great late lunch at Kaiseki today. Friendly chef and very fresh fish. Try anything with otoro, you won’t be disappointed!

I can't say enough about Kaiseki! It is the best sushi in Philly! The freshest fish and lively banter with Chef Andy adds to the charm of this tiny eatery. Go see for yourself!

Andy is an awesome guy! The sushi really is phenomenal and the conversation is top notch. Andy pays absolute attention to his craft. Everything is super fresh and it comes from all the oceans. Ronnie is just fantastic and her smile brightens the room! Fish caught from literally all over the world and expertly prepared by Andy. Japan and Spain is the highlight tonight and it's just awesome.

We did take out and spent quite a lot for a celebration kind of meal. The portion is quite generous for the price and the ingredients are fresh. Plating also looks colorful and is done with effort. However, I have to say the the experience is a little weird for the following reasons.1) found not sanitary non food item in one of the rice bowls2) the rice is seasoned in a very weird way. We have eaten sushi countless times over the world from $20 pp to $600 pp and this rice is just seasoned badly - bland and a bit salty and no taste of vinegar. Maybe out order was big and the chef forgot some steps?3) fish is fresh but multiple pieces of fish had tough tissues that are not edible and unpleasant

SIMPLY THE BEST sushi in Philly! This is not your typical, run of the mill sushi spot, this is a place where you go to witness the art of sushi firsthand. Don't be intimated by the generous size of the rolls, you don't have to eat them in one bite. But you'll devour them. It's been less than 24 hours since I visited and I'm already craving these rolls again. The level of dedication to the craft and culinary artistry is apparent. Chef Andy makes everyone feel welcome and gives a one-of-a-kind up-close experience that's filled with hospitality, kindness and approachability. There's zero pretense, in fact Andy encourages diners to "have it their way," no one's gonna shame you for wanting some spicy mayo with your rolls here. It's all about happiness and Andy delivers that in the shape of well portioned rolls.Vegetarian options: Don't be turned off by the limited choices! You'll have more than enough variety within the rolls with only a few choices. And Andy may even surprise you with more daily specials. Chef Andy is very respectful of dietary needs and will do his best to accommodate. We had an enormous plate of two styles of vegetarian rolls along with pickled veggies and a fresh salad. Everything was fantastic.

If you like a loud chef when you eat, someone who doesn’t know when to allow for quiet time, then this is your place. However, I couldn’t eat more than two pieces. The fish in the window counter looked old and stall, it tasted as much. The sushi pieces were far too big and fell apart. Nothing memorable or special, I actually had to open the reviews to double check if I was at the right place. These reviews appear bought, nothing from this place is wow or extraordinary. I don’t believe people who are calling it the best sushi they have had. It was the worst I’ve had. Plus, you won’t find a regular roll here. Everything is priced at $20 and it isn’t worth the atmosphere, the chef or the presentation, but more importantly the taste of huge chunks of fish, were stomach turning. I rarely leave reviews, but I had to set the record straight about this place. Worst sushi experience I have ever had in this city, and I am sorry I had to experience it.

At various points in life, you realize that you've done alright and made some good decisions. I felt that after opening my Kaiseki take out order. The quality and flavor rivals any spot in Philly. Compared to the big omakase sushi bars, Kaiseki presents an incredible value. But, you're missing out on the service experience and ambiance. I'll take that trade off for the extreme value, in comparison. My chirashi was so chock full of top notch fish that it was difficult to finish. The rice was seasoned perfectly, and while I was eating out of a plastic take out tray, the flavors shone through. There were 4 thick slices of toro in my chirashi, along with fatty yellowtail and king salmon, and so much more. Anyway, order your take out, pay more than you ever have for take out sushi, but enjoy the best that you can get in the city, whether from behind a dark round hobbit door, or from south-ish Philly, where there are never any reservations, due to the miserable online system, and where you'll most likely spend another $150+ on sake. This is treat yoself take out, and you're worth it.

Chef Andy is amazing at his craft. The charashi bowls are just as tasty as they are beautiful. Fresh fish that melts in your mouth, paired with delicious umami pickles. My favorites are the shiitake and bamboo!Highly recommend the charashi but the nigiri is to die for. Feeling adventurous? Ask Andy to make you what he feels like and try the omakase!
