I'm a travel nurse, and I'm based in South Philly. Unless it's summer, don't bother going here if you aren't from South Philly, and don't know anyone from this bar. Tonight, the bartender was kind and professional, so 5 stars to her.During the weekdays after the kitchen closes; this place is really only for food service workers, who know each other, to vent. They are cagey and passive aggressive to anyone who isn't in their group. I'm an ER nurse; I came here fora drink on a weekday after a rough shift. It was a very disappointing and uncomfortable time. I would suggest Watkins or just going to sleep, if you're looking for something open after 12AM in the area.

I finally made it here after wondering since it opened years ago. This place left me confused. People sitting in the dark bar area with their kids when there is an adjacent restaurant section. Who brings little kids into a bar around people getting drunk? I can't sit, chill, and drink with a friend while a little kid is chomping away and crying next to me as their slightly nurotic helicopter mom won't shut up. Weird mix of people, many that look like they should move out to the mainline or some other suburban area. It felt like it was trying to be something it's not - cool. Drink prices are like in Manhattan or Rittenhouse but no alcohol in it. I know how much that booze cost - stop being stingy. Food tastes good but was expensive and small, like trying to be a 5star multi-course dining experience. Again, it confused me - are you a dark bar, fine dining, family restaurant, local hangout? Too many conflicting messages for my simple tastes. I guess it's to be expected from the people who tried to carve "Newbold" out of Point Breeze, and now everyone knows it and says Point Breeze. Claims they are about the community, but really only about a particular slice of So Philly willing to pay the price. Saw no people of color - not one! So many cool local places to go with much more diversity. Hard pass on going back. I felt broke and not full after dinner and a couple drinks.

Absolutely thrilled with my recent visit to South Philadelphia Tap Room! The highlight of my meal was, without a doubt, their Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The soup was a perfect blend of tangy and creamy, with just the right amount of seasoning to elevate the fresh tomato flavor. Paired with a golden, crispy Grilled Cheese that was oozing with melty cheese goodness, it was comfort food at its finest. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff only added to the exceptional dining experience. A must-visit spot for anyone craving a classic with a gourmet twist!

Bartenders are always friendly and willing to help with suggestions, whether it be from the food menu or the long list of beers available on tap.The beer selection is on rotation, so if you find one that you like, write it down for personal purchases when they stop carrying it!Love the fact that the kitchen locally sources the food so you can have a fresh meal that hasn't been on a truck for days.

The food is fast hot and delicious. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The desserts are so banging. We’ve gone back specifically just to pick up their lemon ricotta donuts. One of our favorite spots in the city!

We had a big group and sat outside. Servers were super attentive and visited us out there often. Food was a little bland, but overall good quality. True to its name, fun tap list with lots of variety. Great neighborhood bar.

Corner bar tucked away in South Philly. Atmosphere was cool but was expecting more from the food based on reviews. Orange chili wings were crispy but did not have much orange flavor. The side sauce I have no clue what it was; like a mayo/mustard which was a bit strange. Enjoyed the summer tomato sandwich. The fried PBJ is what I came for and it was not my cup of tea. The crispy exterior and oil taste made it too rich. Needed more jelly to balance it out. I would probably come back for a pint but skip the food.
