Came for an outing with coworkers. Dive bar vibes with a little more space. The nachos were delicious and our server was super friendly and engaging.

Ya'll if I could give them a higher rating I would. First, the bartender was great he knew the food so well and explained what was the best. My partner and I are vegetarian and vegan and he was patient and very knowledgeable about how the food was cooked and tasted. We have tried a lot of veg food in Philly and typically it's pretty good . But, this one was by far the best bar food. Their Reuben was fucking phenomenal. I grew up eating meat and seriously this tasted liked home . They marinate it and smoke it like they would pastrami. The combination of all the ingredients were delicious. We also ordered the veggie burger and it we good and hardy. It was made with kasha root. The outer crisp added a great texture to it.

This is a nice dive bar in the area that knows how to do good bar food. The chicken fingers and fries and an IPA on tap was exactly what I needed on a Friday night, and they delivered. The bartender was very friendly and helpful as well.

I come here quite often and have never had a bad experience. The food is outstanding. They always have a solid draft list and plenty of cans and bottles. The staff is top notch. Definitely can't go wrong at the Pope!

Staff (except food servers) behaves badly, I'm talking psychotic, for no reason and from my very first visit! Who needs the hassle? I could give 1/2 dozen examples. I stopped going.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting a bar that I cannot recommend to anyone. The service was absolutely atrocious. From the moment I walked in, I was met with indifference and apathy from the staff.To make matters worse, the staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than attending to the customers. It was nearly impossible to get their attention, and when I did, I was met with eye rolls and sighs.Needless to say, I will not be returning to this bar anytime soon. It's a shame because with some improvements in both service and atmosphere, it could potentially be a decent establishment. which is a shame because as someone in the service industry i am a heavy tipper. like that mattered to them. But until then, I strongly advise against wasting your time and money.

If you're bartender is Kevin, get ready for a terrible experience. Not sure if we caught him on an off day but absolutely unpleasant. Seemed as if he didn't want to be there nor help in any way or form.Asked a simple question with a recommendation and he replied "get what you like" in a snarky attitude.Will not return.

I moved away from Philadelphia about 10 years ago and this is one place I sorely miss! Good vibe. Good food. And of course great beer! It's in Philadelphia for god sake!

Not bad!! Service was very friendly and reasonable wrt speed. Really enjoyed the brussels sprouts salad, which was almost like a slaw. The Thai chili wings were super salty and limey, but the buffalo wings were solid. Prices are pretty average. If you need a pub with decent beer and food, this place has got you. They also have vegan options, but I thought their vegan cheezesteak was just okay, it was kinda dry and bland. The fries that came with it were good, though! I want to try their vegan reuben next time!

I sooooooo much like this place! My favorite "dive" bar. Feels like a step in the past. The atmosphere is awesome. I brought my out of town friends here for the awesome food, beer, and atmosphere. They both agreed that they loved it there. Get the Philly box!!! Soooooo good!

Awful pub. The time weve eaten here, all the food we ordered was burnt, but weve dealt with it. Weve come here multiple times afterwards anyways for drinks and have had okay experiences. Came here for another night to celebrate a birthday and bartender was dumb enough to not recognize a valid New Jersey license, he would not scan it or serve our friend. Asked for a cup of water for a friend who walked there on crutches and he said that we can get it from cooler. When we told him there’s no cups, he said to drink from the spigot. Would not give us a water and was overall extremely rude, felt like he was on a power trip. Tired of giving this bar second chances.
