A fantastic meal at a great value. With the omakase service at $68 for 12 pieces, and a flight of sake at $22 for 4 glasses, the value is there as well. Fish is fresh, prepared well, and enjoyable.

Worthy of the hype! We came without a reservation for happy hour, and they were able to squeeze us in, but looks like a reservation is a good idea. The happy hour sake was good, and the U-Maki were fun and delicious. Looking forward to coming back with a reservation for the omakase!

First time here last night and will definitely be back! Unbelievable flavors and service. The staff are incredibly passionate about their food and unique Sake offerings. We were given many free Sake samples! Check out the ‘do’s and dont’s sheet’!

First time we were here for omakase dinner it was good. Nothing special. We were not full after. Went to get fried chicken after. This time we got 4 U-Maki Set A $38 with an additional Premium U-Maki. I got the US4 with Waygu beef, uni, scallop, ikura $25 this was soooo goodThe set was a nice snack. If you’ve already eaten a little it’s nice to not take you over the edge.

There are two sections. Hand roll and omakase sections. We sat at the hand roll section. Service is friendly but the first thing that struck us was the sushi chef behind the counter was working under very very dim light. How do they see things to craft? They certainly could not tell if a piece of hair fell in.The hand rolls were all very sweet and so expensive. We are used to expensive sushi omakase but 10-18 dollars for a one bite two bite morsels were ridiculous! Taste was OK but all monotonous. We each had about six pieces and we paid close to 200 dollars for two. Not worth it. Left very hungry and unsatisfied.PS: we ordered a uni sushi piece and it was carried from the omakase side by a waiter in bare hand!!! His hands were clearly not sanitized having been cleaning tables etc. To note the uni was very very low quality.PPs: Sake was very good. Not sure what is meant by happy hours at this place but basically they discount the 24 dollar for three small hand rolls to 22 dollars. Literally each hand roll is size of a finger. Palm face……

Fun and quick Omakase experience. Not a lot of food, at least for me :), 12 pieces. But it was 12 delicious and expertly prepared pieces with quality ingredients. I also enjoyed the Sake flight. Overall I would recommend!
This is from the same owner of Sakana which means the quality of the food is extremely high quality. It’s very rare to have upper echelon quality fish/seafood in the Philly area. The standard and “u-maki” rolls are exquisite. I enjoyed all of them at the first come first serve bar. I cannot speak to the omakase experience. The weakness of this restaurant is the service. The workers are disengaged and soft spoken to a point that I could not hear them in an otherwise quiet restaurant. We were asked multiple times what we wanted to order while perusing the menu for the very first time. This is a nice but casual sushi restaurant. Why not make the atmosphere one that is lighthearted and fun? Rather - it’s quite stiff & pushy instead.Overall - I highly recommend the food. It is definitely worth trying and it was easy to get a walk-in spot at the bar. I would like to believe the service was a one-off experience rather than the norm.

3.5 Stars overall experience For $68, it's hard to find an omakase that can beat that price. Pros: price, freshness of fish, ability to have "omakase experience" at that price point Cons: service fee, omakase experience I've been to a handful of omakases between Philly and NYC at this point, and here's my takeaway for this one. Again, $68 is an amazing price point and the fish was fresh, toro melted in your mouth great quality - but imo the 2 biggest differences of this experience compared to some of my better ones are: a) no conversation with the chef. A lot of the times, imo you're paying for that special interaction with the chef, a more intimate experience. Other than the chef placing the fish down and saying what the fish was, really no interaction until the end of the meal when he asked how everything was b) the flavor pairings of some of them were very similar if not the same- as in other than the fish being different - certain courses tasted the same and were not unique other than the different fish; I did watch and it looked like the same soy based product was brushed on a few of the same dishes The other thing I didn't love is that you have to pay a $5 tock fee to make reservations. They refund you your deposit in full, but $5 reservation fee is not avoidable, and on top of that there's a credit car processing fee for 1.5% they also pass onto the customer when you close out. Those little things just rubbed me the wrong way. I also agree with the other reviewer about the texture of the rice. You can see in one of my photos that the rice did not stay together and fell apart as the chef was placing it on my plate. Also just FYI - if you want to order at the handroll bar, you need to physically move your seat to that bar - the omakase seating and handroll are completely different Overall - absolutely an affordable omakase with fresh quality fish - still worth a try for the price point imo

We were able to get a seat at the hand roll bar without a reservation. The service was outstanding with helpful recommendations. My friend and I tried the 2 u-maki sets and 2 additional rolls: the miso black cod and scallop uni ikura. Everything was delicious and so fresh. So happy Yuhiro has joined our neighborhood!

A great omakase addition to the city! Yuhiro is one of the more affordable ones, serving 12 pieces of nigiri for $68. Each piece features a fresh bite of fish carefully made. A good pick for a date night spot, it’s byob and has plenty of neighborhood parking. They also have an a la carte menu if the 12 pieces don’t fill you up!

The seafood is very fresh and the atmosphere is perfect in its minimalism. A great selection of traditional style maki and hand rolls (great toro and mackerel) and more inventive modern takes with mango and avocado. The crab is wonderful. It’s real and fresh. The music is calming and soft so you can actually have a conversation as you eat. I highly recommend this place. BYOB for now which makes it a great deal.
