Came here for Valentine's day. I was looking for a good steak and Eddie Merlot's delivered. The menu seems to play it safe. Mostly comfort food, but everything tasted good.On the negative side, this interior is in desperate need of an update. It felt like a time capsule of 90s po-mo. Our server was nice, but felt rushed and stressed. Also a big negative was that there were two tables adjacent to us that both had young children on iPads playing games with the sound on. I couldn't understand why someone would pay these prices for a valentines day dinner and bring along a child who clearly didn't want to be there. It would've been nice if a server would've asked them to turn their volume off.

Good food; atmosphere leaves room for improvement based upon the price. But great location.

We went for my wife's birthday. Good food. Service was good but not up to their standards. Was surprised that we typically would have gotten a birthday desert but it was never

Dinner was amazing. The ahi tuna wontons were delicious. Our server was amazing, and did a wonderful job. The new orleans grill was good. Be prepared for spice. The shrimp was spicy. And the carrot cake was so decadent. Everything was lovely. It was just very cold in there. We will definitely go back and hopefully not sit near a window!

We are regulars at Eddie Merlot's and usually have a nice experience. Unfortunately, that was not true last night. We were seated at a table in the bar adjacent to the windows. It was so cold my wife and other women near us were wearing coats. Our service started out good, but quickly went AWOL. Three times in the last 45 minutes we were in the restaurant our waiter said he was going to bring me more iced tea. He never did. Our food was below average and some of it was cold. My wife and I ordered one dessert to share that took over 35 minutes to get to our table even though our waiter and the Manager knew we had tickets to the Symphony. Other patrons around us also expressed dissatisfaction with the food and service. The explanation we were given is that there were a couple of large parties in the restaurant last night. Apparently, taking care of those large parties was more important than taking care of the patrons in the bar area. It was a very disappointing experience.

alot of new people, had waiter working in bar and restaurant so couldn't be as attentive as necessary, food was really good and waiter nice but stretched too thin to have consistency in service

Our waiter was outstanding! We ordered ahi tuna wontons, husband ordered the king crab bisque, wagyu ribeye and baked potato. His only complaint was that his bisque had one small hunk of Crab meat. I ordered the trio filet mignon and was blown away at the portions and they were all fantastic, and the lobster mashed potatoes were amazing. They brought us out champagne and crème brûlée with a signed card for our anniversary, very thoughtful. Overall wonderful experience!

Wow! Just wow! We've been coming to Pittsburgh for years for shows and weekend getaways but for some reason just never tried Eddie Merlot's. That's going to change after our dinner this past Friday. The location is very convenient to staying downtown and upon entering you're immediately hit with a cool, hip downtown vibe for an upscale steakhouse. Our server, Gabriella, was amazing. She did a great job of taking care of us and walking us through the extensive menu. We settled on sharing king crab legs as well as one of their wagyu steak options. The crab legs were perfectly cooked and the steak was unbelievable. Just the right temperature and oh so tender. We also shared a Ceasar salad as well as a charcuterie board prior. Both were great. A bottle of Justin red topped off a fantastic, romantic dinner for two. We'll definitely be coming back.

The following is an edited review from one I originally posted on 21 June 2023:Dined at Eddie Merlot's for Valentine's Day. There was an incident. I ordered a bottle of wine. The waitress brought back a different bottle of wine, and said the restaurant had run out of the wine I ordered. The bottle of wine she brought back was significantly more expensive. No discussion of the price, mind you. Just that it was a "comparable" wine. She knew it would be in poor taste for me to discuss the price of the wine in front of my Significant Other. I acquiesced, and opted for the more expensive bottle of wine. The RIGHT thing to do would be to apologize for having run out, place the wine list in front of me, and say something along the lines of, "I apologize. We've run out of the wine you ordered. I'll give you a minute to peruse the wine list and then I'll check back with you." She didn't do that. Instead, she elected to upsell me. I don't appreciate it. On the other hand, the restaurant does have outstanding personnel. Case in point; if you dine there, you'll want to request Armindo as your waiter, whose tableside skills, rapport and knowledge base are second to none. Armindo's assistant, Henry, couldn't do enough for us. Finally, there was Bill, who apparently oversees ALL Eddie Merlot's restaurants. He made us feel exceptionally welcome. Final note; I've dropped approximately $1,000.00 over three separate visits during the past eight months. Think I'll take a break.

We celebrated a birthday and our service was exceptional, Chanel & Taylor were very attentive and always checked on us to make sure everything was to our liking. Wagu meatballs are a must to try as well as the beef carpaccio, filet potstickers & ahi tuna wontons, the veal & prime bourbon ribeye ! Great food, great evening.
