My favorite Mexican restaurant of all time!

This used to be one of my favorite local restaurants and the margaritas and friendly atmosphere at the bar really were the best! I have been an over 10 year loyal customer but sadly no more. Over the last few years, staffing has really changed and things are consistently gone down hill. Our last visit, last week, we had two full margaritas that tasted like water and after two fulls we should have known if there was tequila in them and there definitely wasnt! The bartenders were slow to get attention and order food, the street tacos were very dry and not tasty, and we did not receive some of the food we ordered. I am super sad to say that I don't think we will be returning again as this visit was really the last straw. I miss the old Franklin Inn!Update - I have edited my review as the owner was very responsive to our experience. We will return for another try and hope things go better.

Honestly, one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The staff understood the celiacs concerns we had and made recommendations accordingly. Food was prompt and delicious and GF. Definitely plan to make the trip for another round of grub!!

Best Mexican food in the North Hills, hands down! Always great service and good drinks too. Take the family for dinner, or sit at the cute little bar. Great spot!

The beginning of the night went well when we were seated sooner than the quoted time. This was a birthday dinner, and I had been between Billy's Roadhouse and Franklin Inn. Having heard so many incredible things about Franklin Inn - and having been to BR before - I opted to go with the Franklin Inn. I ordered a pineapple hibiscus margarita to split with my mom and, when asked if we wanted the half or full, responded "half." My mother also replied with "half." The waitress brought out a full and when I asked about the sizing (mainly because I wanted to know what the "full" looked like if she brought us the half), she stated it was a full and that that's what she had written down. My dad and brother both replied we had said half but that it wasn't a big deal. Server errors happen, but ordinarily, when the customer orders a half size, but is brought a full because of said error, the lcost should reflect the half order; it did not. While this wasn't a big deal, the lack of attention, combined with the insanely under seasoned and flavorless fajitas made for a very underwhelming experience. I am not sure if the veggie/portobello fajitas are supposed to be served the way they were, but they tasted like they had been boiled in water straight from a bag. No salt, fat, acid, or heat. It was a truly disappointing experience, but I am hopeful it was a fluke and would return - but would not order the veggie fajitas.

For someone who doesn't enjoy Mexican food, the taco salad was to die for. Definitely worth the over hour wait. The service was so friendly and on their game. Cute small restaurant, definitely know what they are doing

I was disappointed there was no mole. Franklin Inn made the BEST mole. However, we had the seafood enchiladas, which were spectacular!

A local favorite for the North Hills people of Pittsburgh. I have gone to this restaurant more than I can count on my hands! Every time I've had a good experience! Believe it or not my favorite thing at this restaurant is in fact not Mexican food but their hot wings. You cannot go wrong. If you order these wings!!! they are top-notch and I highly recommend you try them when you're in this restaurant next time! I am also a big fan of their fajita vegetables, which is a side dish. This restaurant is family friendly, and the ambience is like going into a home and enjoying a great meal. You will not be disappointed.

Great food, good service only downside is the dining room area is a tad small.

The food was pretty good I had the Hibiscus tacos and the salsa sampler, they have a nice vegetarian selection. The tortillas were some of the freshest I've ever had. My partner said his chicken burrito was a little underseasoned. The service was as good as it could get for how busy they were but if you're looking for a quiet meal this is not the place to go. I've been to dive bars on a Saturday night that were quieter than this place, I left with a headache.

Good food. Decent prices. I just downgraded my review from 6 years ago. Seems like when you sit at the bar, sometimes the bartender just starts washing dishes or watching tv instead of offering service. That’s happened about 3 of our last 5 visits.

Wings 5 of 5 - amazing. Great taste, excellent spice, perfectly fried. Among the best I’ve ever had.Margaritas 5 of 5 - strong and great flavor. Excellent happy hour deals. The group tried the hibiscus, mango, and classic.Other food 4 of 5 - The shredded beef chimichanga was delicious, not amazing but good. Birra tacos, good portion size, good flavor.Sides 3 of 5 - not bad just average. Had fajita vegetables, bean and corn salad, and rice.I would go back for the wings and the margaritas.
