Pastoli's is our go-to for delivery pizza and wings, we order from them regularly. We appreciate the variety of pizzas and the wings usually come hot and well sauced. The zucchini planks are also a hit in our house. I would recommend Pastoli's to anyone looking for good pizza. Also, we've gotten their gluten free crust a few times and it's nearly indistinguishable.

My family had never tried Pastoli's before, even though we live nearby, since their prices always seemed weirdly expensive. $20 for a dozen wings with blue cheese? $30 for an extra-large pepperoni pizza? But based on their glowing write-up in the City Paper and their high rating here on Google, we decided to give them a go to see if we'd been overlooking a "hidden gem" in our neighborhood.Judging by the crowd when I picked up the order, Pastoli's has figured out a winning formula with their combination of special-diet food and a hip, coffee-shop atmosphere with couches and live music. And looking back on the City Paper write-up and the many five-star reviews, those are the things that have earned them a lot of fans. If eating vegan, gluten-free pizza and "wings" while listening to a local musician perform sounds like fun, Pastoli's is probably for you. If you're looking for a decent regular old pizza joint, it would be difficult to recommend the place.Where to start? Their ordering website is very strange. I try not to judge small businesses by their online presence, but Pastoli's is exceptionally weird. When ordering a pizza, presumably the most important thing on the menu, you first have to choose between "Cheese Pizza" and "WToppings", both of which seem to give you an identical choice of customization options. The list of sides is accompanied not by descriptions of the items, but by instructions for the kitchen staff on how to make each one. The only item available under "Catering" is, inexplicably, "Pan Of Cinapuffs" for $36.But anyway, how was the food? Promising...but in every dish, a fatal flaw. The french fries were warm and crispy but so salty they were inedible, and went in the trash almost immediately. The wings were enormous and aggressively sauced, but their size meant they had to be cooked so gently it was like eating oven-baked chicken, with no crispiness to the skin. The pizza had an overwhelming amount of cheese, drowning out the flavor of the red sauce and the generously-apportioned toppings. The "gy-roni" rolls were exactly what you'd expect—filled with both gyro meat and pepperoni—but in our opinion, those two great tastes did not taste great together. And the whole experience was soured by the kitchen ignoring every one of our special requests (e.g. "sauce on the side").They are clearly trying to provide a premium product befitting their pricing, but their execution leaves much to be desired. Perhaps in the future we'll give them another go; for now we'll leave Pastoli's to those who appreciate their strengths.
