Very nice, friendly place to stop for a homemade meal. The pizza was wonderful, and I enjoyed the lasagna as well.

What a charming little place. My friend and I dined here for a little “girls’ night out”, and I’m so thankful that we did. Our server, Kelsey, made us feel so welcome from the moment we sat down. The atmosphere is cozy, bright, and inviting. Both of us got seafood pasta dishes, and I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing so I could have leftovers! The tiramisu was delicious…and a very hefty portion size of it, too. We split a bottle of wine from their shop next door, and Kelsey brought it to our take for us so we didn’t have to move. Generous portion sizes, excellent food quality, and a very reasonable price point. The service was excellent. I can’t say enough good things about this place. There are a lot of good Italian restaurants in Pittsburgh, but this is one of my favorites already! Can’t wait to go back.

The food, service and atmosphere is amazing. Parking is always going to be an issue, but you just have to be patient and you'll find a spot eventually.

we have loved this place- not sure what is going on but the dinner was rushed. When we reserved we were told about a time limit for the table. Though the service was good, we barely had a moment to consider the menu when we were asked for our order, and then again in a short time. The appetizer, meal were all rushed in the same way. The check was delivered 65 minutes after we sat down. Not a placeto go if you are looking to relax.

We had an exquisite dinner for the four of us that was remarkable in flavors, from the insalata mista to the fig arugula pizza to the lasagna to the seafood canneloni. Take a bow, Piccolo Forno!

It is best to make a reservation. We tried multiple apps, pizza, and pasta. Everything was very authentic. Remi was our server, and I had great suggestions and had a lot of fun. It is byob, but they do offer alcohol but for a fee from the bar next door. I would love to go back!

This is definitely a great casual Italian place to go with friends or on a date, but on busier days, it can get loud and it could be hard to have conversation! The food is good overall, for some reason I have really liked all the dishes with mushrooms that I've had. The lasagna has an interesting, almost chocolate-y profile to it and is pretty rich. There have been some dishes that I personally didn't love the taste of, but I can still tell that the dishes were well-made and have a more unique flavor.

Had a fantastic family dinner here and loved the entire meal. Pizzas, salads, pasta and desserts. All of it was fantastic. The risotto of the day was superb!! Can’t wait to go back.

Totally overrated. Maybe not for my tastebuds. I am not a picky eater but two out of the three dishes were a bust.

You have to try this place if you love pasta. (Who doesn't??) This chef is not playing around. The fresh, homemade pasta is "pound your fist on the table and call out to your Italian Nona in heaven" delicious! We had the spinach ravioli & tortellini with meat sauce. There aren't words to describe. I'll be back!

Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. Plus it's BYOB. Pasta is made in house. Everything on the menu is good.

I began going to piccolo forno when it opened & I still try to get there as often as I can. It's a great spot in Lawrenceville with big windows letting natural light in. The service is always on point & the food has just gotten better and better. You can never go wrong with the tortelli & the marg pizza but the seasonal specials are where it's at! If you haven't been, it's a great place for any occasion! Also check the grapparia around back before or after dinner for some cocktails/wine/mocktails!

Update: Been coming here for years and this place has consistently delicious options. Still love it.This place is so good I almost hate to make it any harder to get a reservation. Hubby and I got engaged in Italy, dirty backpackers that were we. 10 years and two kids later we've been trying out Italian restaurants ever since. Piccolo Forno took us right back. This place would do good business in Volterra or Sorrento. Fresh pasta, rabbit, and a touch of citrus in the tiramisu. We've been back multiple times and their menu changes over the seasons. I have left happy every time.

3.5 stars. Food is generally good (****), ambience is noisy (***), but not food allergy friendly (**).
