Went there for Valentines Day.....first time there. Very quaint place. French Onion soup was delicious as was the Halibut. The service was spectacular and we did not feel rushed at all. The lemon sorbet was a nice touch to cleanse the pallet. We will be back.....hungry.

I've never had a bad meal here! I love the BYOB concept and the $10 corking fee is really reasonable. The charm of the house is present throughout the restaurant so it's a unique dining spot in the south hills. The folks are friendly and often see the owner onsite.

We had a wonderful meal with a group of 8. The service was great, and the food was incredible. Everyone loved their meals- the halibut was my favorite entree, and the calamari was my favorite appetizer. We were not rushed through dinner, and the timing of the courses was perfect. We will definitely be back!

We loved the food and the service. Our name was on the table when we arrived wishing was a nice touch. Husband had the filet which he loved.Vegetarian options: There was only one vegetarian option. It was eggplant gnocchi and delicious.Parking: Spots in front of house and behind.

We went to the previous restaurant The Plate and we went with high expectations as before, however, we are totally disappointed. We ordered crab cakes, pork chop and the special lobster linguini. So when the food came, it was lobster lasagna. The pork chops were under cooked. They brought it back to the oven to re-cook it. So if you do a little Google on raw pork, "Rare pork is undercooked. Both uncooked or raw pork and undercooked pork are unsafe to eat. Meat sometimes has bacteria and parasites that can make you sick. Thorough cooking kills any germs that might be present." Honestly I do not understand how they would think this is acceptable. The potato dumpling is kind of a joke as it has no taste and the texture is rubbery, like chewing a rubber. Lastly we ordered Brownie with ice cream and peanut butter, it looks horrible with lines of so called peanut butter, ice cream just a normal single scoop with some cream on top. So in conclusion, this restaurant has no heart of cooking food, but their price doesn't reflect what they serve. And The Plate is way better.

We had a wonderful dinner at The 404. The food quality and service was excellent and we love the BYOB. I asked to see Chef Dave at the end and told him I've lived in the South Hills for 35 years, and this was simply the finest meal I've ever had here. We WILL be coming back! Please support The 404 so it achieves the success it so well deserves!ADDENDUM: We went back and brought a friend. She had the French Onion soup and said it was the best French Onion soup she ever had (and she lived in France for a while!). She also had the crab cakes and pronounced them outstanding. We split the mussels, I had the steak and my wife had the Brasato and both were excellent. Another top of the line meal. Congrats to Chef David!

I must admit that I personally search the internet for restaurants that peak my curiosity. I found a cozy, quaint and all so welcoming place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 404. I have a deep appreciation for great food and atmosphere. The 404 is the perfect place for a date night. It is The First Restaurant I have found that allows you to bring your own bottle of wine. What a novel concept! There is a $10.00 corkage fee for every bottle opened. The food portions are quite large; so, bring your appetite. Also, if you share an entree, there is an additional charge for that. The 404 has ample free parking. Don't fret, if you can't finish your meal, they will box it up for you. Enjoy the left overs for lunch the next day at work. While your co-workers eat their mundane meals, you can enjoy a 1st class lunch!I brought my bottle of Beringer Moscoto wine. It paired very well with my Ceasar Salad and Pasta G entrée. Check out the menu items of their website. You should see something that you would like and then find a wine that would complement your selection. Don't forget to call to make your reservations.

I was so disappointed in my food! I ordered the summer vegetable pasta with shrimp for $42. The were only 3 MEDIUM SHRIMP on the plate!!! The second chance visit, I ordered the Alaskan Halibut for $50 which is described as being served with mushroom raviolis. It came with only ONE RAVIOLI under the halibut which was dry and overcooked! The ravioli was good but I was so ticked off that I could hardly eat the dinner. Great service and great atmosphere but overpriced and chintzy for what would be normally expected by their menu description! No 3rd chance!

Food is great!! BYOB, but they have mocktails to mix. Your name is written on the table. Lots of little extra efforts! Little pricey, but wonderful place!!
