DON"T BE HIS VICTIM!! We hired DJ John for our ceremony & reception (August 2014). It is the only part of the planning process that has been difficult & our biggest regret. We are hoping to spare other individuals from this situation. I will keep this short for readability but be assured more details only make it worse. During our initial meeting John was concerned about a few bad reviews on-line & assured us they were from people who could simply never be pleased. There were even a few humorous stories. With a personal referral, we signed a contract. After giving him a deposit, he was only contacted once a few months later to ask if he had a microphone for our pastor during the ceremony (if not I was getting one through our videographer...no big deal). Then 6 weeks before our wedding he e-mailed to cancel saying he was in a terrible car accident (broke both legs, his back, so on) and could not fulfill his obligation. We didn't fully understand...we were told if he could not attend his partner (Cathy) or one of the other 3 DJ's he works with would cover. Regardless, we wished him the best, offered to pick up our refund if it was easier, & prayed for his recovery. Through an exchange of e-mails it was evident that we were going to have a hard time getting our deposit back if at all. THEN...through a friend we learned that he was fine. With a bit of research we found that he had been to at least 2 weddings & DJing at bars in the 3 weeks he said he was in the hospital awaiting transfer to a major rehab facility in the area. We went to a bar he was scheduled to play only to find him (& his partner Cathy) there with no visible injuries. He was standing, walking, etc. He promptly gave us our refund with no apology or remorse for his actions. We strongly believe that we would have never received our deposit back if we did not catch him while playing for an establishment. The following alias' were discovered during our conversations & research: DJ John, Ivor Padula, DJ Cruise/DJ Cruize, Twist and Shout Entertainment, Dragon Karaoke and DJ services, and Five Star Entertainment. There is a reason this individual has to change his business name every couple of years. It must be even worse to have to go by a different personal name as well. We wish we would have known this prior to even calling him. PLEASE BE ADVISED!! (documented proof on hand)

We had DJ John hired about 9 months ago. We are very music oriented and were adamant on what we wanted our guests to dance to. DJ John complied fully and was able to mix it up so that everyone danced. His MC skills were outstanding. We had 9 Brides maids and 9 Groomsmen along with 3 flower girls and 2 ring bearers, family and...well you get the idea. DJ John was able to diffuse several incidents that might have caused an issue during the night as well. We had every confidence in him from what we read in many reviews from everywhere and were convinced once we met him. I've read good reviews and bad reviews on 50 DJ's but we made the right call with Twist and Shout Entertainment

This is one wedding vendor I would never recommend to any of my friends. I got a great price on DJ John's services, I was lucky enough to sign a contract before prices went up. I think that my wedding was completely neglected because he was not making as much money off of me. He did not seem to want to take into consideration any of my ideas for the reception. A month before my wedding some unforeseen circumstances came about for DJ John and he was not able to DJ my wedding. I was understanding of the situation and let him provide a replacement. From the beginning of our meetings I had a feeling that DJ John did not want to do my wedding and would have a fill in... but I had no idea he would have me pay someone so awful. DJ John seemed to have all the confidence in the world for his replacement. This guy was a complete failure and put no work into my wedding. Everything was printed out on a piece of paper and he still couldn't get it right (i.e.; songs, names, announcements). The worst part of this experience was re-planning the whole "DJ" process a month before my wedding with the "new" guy. I had no time for this, but I did it. And thank god I was able to because I don't think DJ John did anything to get the new DJ up to speed for my wedding. This company was a complete disappointment.
