It is always a joy to find those hidden gems of a culinary experience in unlikely places; and I count Granja Azul as one of those places. It is off a main stretch that might more likely house a restaurant; but I found that in the Reading area, you should always be ready to find businesses in places you would least expect. It just looks like a regular neighborhood and BAM! an amazing Peruvian joint with a dining room that could just as easily be cleared of its' tables and be a living room were it not for the bar--although I imagine that there are those among you who wouldn't mind a bar in your living rooms--you drunkards. ;) Get the Lomo Saltado. It is as good as it gets and generous portions to boot! The noodle dish was a little carb heavy, although again, generous in its portion and seafood. Just liked the lomo that much better. Will definitely be back!

(Translated by Google) We moved from Miami to Pennsylvania and we thought the first thing we were going to miss was eating Peruvian food. The closest restaurant was 45 minutes away so many times we were discouraged due to the enormous distance. One day the GPS took us off the road and we got almost close to the Granja Azul restaurant, so we decided to visit it. We didn't like the location very much and inside the restaurant looked a bit old. But a nice waitress. If I'm wrong, his name was Yahaira, he welcomed us and settled us at a table. We were a group of 4 and the dish that we always have to order anyway is a lomo saltado and a ceviche. I think that if a restaurant does not know how to make those 2 basic dishes then it is not worth visiting it again. We ordered some Inca kola and as a courtesy they brought us a huancaina potato. It had a different flavor than what I was used to, I think they put onion on it. But it was quite palatable. As it was a new restaurant for us, we decided to order a little of each item. We ordered a fish ceviche that was very tasty. The exact point of lemon and slightly spicy. The ceviche always has to have a minimal touch of spice. The cut of the fish was a bit weird. Elongated medium. But it wasn't bad.I think the stuffed potato is made from the mass of the cause. It is not like a typical stuffed potato. But trying something that has a different touch but that is pleasant is a good option. We also ordered a seafood jelly, lomo saltado, and seafood rice. The portions are quite generous and the rice with seafood is accompanied by a small ceviche. The lomo saltado reminded me of my mother's. It felt very homey, the potatoes were already mixed with the meat. very richI think there are many customs that have been lost with the passing of the years of the typical of the life of each country. And from time to time it is good to remember those moments with a trip to the past through food.A good experience. 100% recommended. And the prices are very good.(Original)Nos mudamos de Miami a Pennsylvania y pensamos que lo primero que íbamos a extrañar era comer la comida peruana. 100% recomendado. Y los precios muy b

This place is awesome. We fell on love with Peruvian chicken from Sardi's but closest one is over an hour away. This place is just as delicious and local. Must go out on a limb and try. Saw on Door Dash and got it delivered. Yummy

Sometimes you just have to go out on a whim and order from places that wouldn't normally even be on your radar. That was the case with La Granja Azul. That's how I'm going to refer to it for the rest of this review. The actual name is super long and I don't think I can even pronounce it correctly. I was trying to tell someone about this place and I couldn't even remember the name. Maybe I'll just call it "Azul" from here on out? It's short and sweet.Azul really surprised me. First off, it serves Peruvian food, and I didn't exactly know what that entailed. Even after browsing the menu, everything was really foreign to me. There was a whole section titled: "Tallarines (spaghetti)." Ok... ? Another section was a little more familiar - "Arroz (Rice)." So I know spaghetti. I know rice. But Peruvian style? All right, screw it, let's just go for it.When my order arrived, it was not at all what I expected. It was straight up lo mein and fried rice, just as you'd get from a Chinese restaurant. After doing a little research, I found that there is a whole culinary tradition known as "Chifa," which is essentially Chinese-Peruvian fusion. A great influx of Chinese immigrants moved to the western South American country in the late 19th and 20th centuries and ever since then, Chifa cuisine has become one of the most popular types of food in Peru. The beauty of the fusion lies in the spices. So while you may get a heaping portion of traditional lo mein noodles, the vegetables and BBQ/rotisserie meats will be infused with cumin, coriander, turmeric, clove, nutmeg, and anise (among others). It all comes together to form a unique marriage of flavors.Portions here are really spectacular. At the price point of $12, I thought I was going to get an individual portion. But nope, each order is an entire 2+ lb. tray, each one capable of serving at least 2-3 people. It ends up being an incredible value.I'm definitely going to try Azul again. The "Saltado" (Sautéed dishes) sound particularly good. This is another fusion dish that combines beef or seafood with tomatoes, onions, and fries. Yes, fries. It's one of Peru's national dishes. This is no doubt one of the more unique dining establishments in Reading. As of this review, they are open 12 hours per day from 10 AM to 10 PM seven days a week and will deliver to your door via Ubereats, Doordash, and Postmates.

When I heard there was a Peruvian restaurant in Reading I couldn’t wait to visit! Peruvian cuisine if you didn’t already know is one of the most revered in the world and for good reason. I ordered with my family a whole chicken a la brasa with fries, jalea, and fish ceviche. WOW! The food was delicious and very generous portions. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor, the ceviche was almost the size of an entree and tasted incredible. If you go be prepared to eat and take left overs. I highly recommend what an amazing restaurant wish them the best!

We are there for business, and stopped by for lunch. They have chicken menu, served with salad, hot bread, french fries. It is delicious but a bit expensive. Nice atmosphere, well kwpt garden and inside the restaurant is very authentic. Thank you.

Before it was so romantic and special, but not its seems almost ordinary due to high prices. Weekends are filled with lots and lots of noisey kids everywhere! The simple lunch was sufficient as potatoes and lettuce was abundant. It closes early around 5 pm!

We were looking for a good place to have a meal after visiting a nearby zoo with our son. We arrived at this restaurant -- location was a bit out of town, but was relaxing and offered great outdoor sights. We couldn't get a table outside because they said all the tables were reserved -- which was strange because most of the ones outside remained empty when we left. Anyway, onto the food. Only all you can eat chicken, which was bland, with 1 skewer each of beef and chicken liver, french fries, and iceburg lettuce and tomatoes. Price per person was $78 Soles or about $23USpp without drink or dessert. Here was the kicker, no doggie bags or sharing. So disappointed in this place. Won't be returning or recommending!
