Attended a special high tea event to celebrate Mother's Day.The tea itself was very good and they offered a great selection. The food was generally good, particularly the soup, the salad, and the desserts. The crab cakes were pretty bad, though: fried crab cakes served ice cold just seems a bad combination.The big disappointment, though, was the bill. They added both a mandatory gratuity (20%) and a random unexplained "service fee". Neither of these were disclosed before the reservation or meal.I don't object to mandatory gratuities, *IF* clearly communicated ahead of time. It's always less than I'd tip anyway.Random "service fees", however, are unethical and unacceptable. I get food and service costs are higher now. But raise your menu prices and pay your staff a decent wage instead of pretending the meal is cheaper and tacking on extra surprise fees. It's unethical and gross.

The Tavern has the most courteous staff, nice beers on tap, and very tasteful entrees. We loved the historical preservation of this place, which provides a wonderful backdrop to the experience.

The history and original decor are amazing!!! The food was delicious, and Gia, our server, was awesome. Highly recommend!!! Plus, there is a lot of paranormal activity within the building. All good energy, and it was fun checking it out!! Definitely will be back!

Service was not good , very slow , waited 1hr 45mins for our food , waitress was doing her best , she was overworked , food was subpar , prices did not match the quality of the food . The Winter sangria was very good. The ghost your was fun. Overall, a disappointing dining experience that I would not recommend to anyone.

Such fantastic food in an historic building. I’ve had dinner here 3 times and have never been disappointed. The Brussel sprouts are especially good. Would also recommend chicken Chesapeake or pork chops. A+
We went for their Spring Tea and it was wonderful. The staff are so kind and helpful and the food was very tasty and well presented. They also had a great tea selection and we were able to try as many as we wanted. We'll definitely be back for the Mother's Day Tea.

Ate here tonight in the tavern. Very empty. Was only ours and 1 other table and we got charged for ours and their bill. Huge difference. Got refunded because I questioned it, but concerned this happened with only 2 tables. 2 ladies at the hostess desk asked how our visit was on the way out. Might want to put that effort into training/management.
