“I've never written a review on a restaurant, but I had to for this...I'm in town for 4 weeks for business. Eating at a new place each night started to become more of a chore than a treat. For context, I'm from Texas where flavor and spice are BIG. I'd been mostly disappointed in the local places (no hate). I took ONE BITE of this place's brussel sprouts and knew I was in for a treat. My business partner ordered the Philly Style burger of the week and I had a fried chicken sandwich. Both dishes were full of flavor and a surprising, and welcome, bit of heat by Texas standards. We ended our meal with a lemon lush which was the perfect amount of refreshing and sweet without smacking you in the face with sugar. My business partner very much enjoyed his cocktail and I loved that they had Mexican Coke in the bottle. And THAT'S just the food...The atmosphere is relaxed, cozy, and welcoming. I especially loved the touch of the waitress immediately bringing a growler of cold water and cups. Service was quick and welcoming, but without hovering. We made immediate plans to return later in the week. We spoke with our waitress and this is a family owned and run business. Can't wait to return!“

“Love Mickey Gannons. We hadn't been since covid hit. The server explained that they had new management and were excited for the changes that were being made. Then after 2 burgers, fries, an order of chicken fingers, and 2 beers each, the bill came to $108 for the 3 of us!! It'll be a long while before we go back.“

“The Waldorf was a great place. We had our 10 year high school reunion of West Scranton Class of 2013. Great food and a great experience. A great view of the Scranton skyline was one of the highlights, including a grand display of Christmas decorations and lights.“

Shooter's Pub Pubs • $$
826 W Market St, Scranton

“Uber gal here again. Dropped off a rider who advised me to stop and take a break. I was done driving for the night, so I had to check it out. It's an old bar vibe from back in the day, they have a popular pool table, a few tv's, lottery machines, and an old styled room that was not being used. It was huge and the bar area was ornate and unique. It's tricky to find out where to park, there is a small side alley-like road along the side of the building. People were not real friendly but the bartender was nice and helpful in suggesting a drink. If you like pool then this is your place, otherwise, I will not be back.“

Whiskey Dick's Bar • $
308 N Washington Ave, Scranton

“Not a bad bar, and not too loud. It's quaint and has a hole-in-the-wall vibe. You definitely don't want to be here when it's crowded though because there's literally no room at all. It has to be the smallest bar in Scranton. I had a whiskey sour and it was alright. I'd say it's on par for your average college bar. The decorations are cool. This place definitely has some personality to it. There's some games to play too but I think i'd prefer them to have more room instead. One arcade game takes up the space of 2+ potential customers. If people want to play games, they can just go to Bartari. P“

“I haven't tried the food, so I won't give a star rating for that, but having gone there twice now, I can assure anyone that it's a fun vibe! The crowds are typically middle aged and up, though not exclusive, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing! There's multiple people I've spoken with, and everyone was friendly, no exceptions. The bar has space for live music and they get some good acts. The open design room off to the side has electronic games that can be played at a cost, but there's also shuffle board, which is completely free to play. Just walk up to it and have fun! The tables are also made of raw chunks of wood, the trees used to make them cut either horizontally for round tables or vertically for long tables, all with lacquer to seal them and give tuneful a nice shine! All in all, it's definitely one of the better bars I've been to in the Scranton area. And even though I can't be sure since I don't have a personal frame of reference for it, considering how nice everything else is, I wouldn't be surprised if the food is good, too! I highly recommend giving The Rusty Nail a shot. Chances are, you won't regret it!“

“Was an okay time. However the bartender seemingly did not know how to make many drinks, also they could not make two of the drinks on the list due to it being out. I mean perhaps we should have looked some up on our phone and been more specific however this is and was never an issue at any other bar.The poor bartender was also the only one working in a very packed bar so obviously felt pretty bad for her. She was still very kind and did her best to make everyone happy with the circumstances of being understaffed, for whatever reason. We got a grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad and that was very delicious. Obviously don't want to give this kind of rating here and i am sure it's better other nights. Perhaps it was due to the fact of it being a Sunday night. This place is very nice inside and well lit, i also have to say. A beautiful long bar, with table seating also available. Perhaps will be able to change this rating, next time.Edit: owner did reach out to help and make things right. Which is extremely thoughtful of him I had thought I just have not had the time to get there! :)Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp.“

“Food was very good, service was good BUT.. the menu has NO PRICES at all! We asked the waitress about it and she said he wrote “market price “ at the bottom of the menu so he never has to update it. For everything - burgers, wings, sandwiches, etc. - website prices were out of date. Unacceptable practice!“

“Absolute gem of a venue, especially if you love the office! It's in a bowling alley and is so unassuming, but you walk in and immediately feel like you're in a neighborhood joint. Bartender was funny and polite. I got the house chips and my husband got mozzarella sticks. Really exciting to see a place with cheap food (both together cost us 6 dollars!) that was actually delicious. I could have eaten two more plates of chips. The drinks were also well made and we got some Poor Richard's swag to bring home We ended up coming back at night we liked it so much and it was clearly a popular spot. This is an absolute must on a Scranton adventure“

“Just want to give a kudos to Kelly’s Restaurant in Scranton. We ate dinner there tonight with our 2 kids. We rarely go out because our 2 yr old is awful at restaurants. We had errands to run tonight abd had to go out to dinner rather than cook. Our youngest was actually pretty good tonight. The staff was not only kind to my kids, but one of them got down on the floor to talk about coloring books, minecraft, and cars. Another staff played dinosaurs and roared and clawed with my 2 year old. The service was excellent (not too much, not too little). We didn’t go without drinks. Food came out quickly. Food was amazing. Staff was so nice. The patrons were excellent too, one of them picking my son’s dinosaur up. Just goes to show that a restaurant that welcomes families also instills those values and attracts patrons who are nice to kids. I remember going to Kelly’s as a kid and I am happy I can bring my kids there.Thank you Kelly’s for accommodating families. It’s very stressful to bring kids out. Your staff was welcoming and made us feel so at ease. Definitely will be going to Kelly’s more.“

“What a nice surprise. Usually hotel restaurants are fair at best, but I was so pleased with this one! We ordered the shrimp Mac & Cheese and a corned beef and cabbage special. Both were great. They change their specials weekly. This week had a bunch of Irish specialties--shepherds pie and corned beef among them. They have a very nice drink menu. I had a great Cabernet Sauvignon and my husband had a Yuengling and also a double bourbon. The whiskey menu is extensive! I think their board has about 50 different selections on it. We got a taste of one of their margaritas and it was quite nice. They recently began to run a margarita menu that was just released. It has multiple tequila choices, different flavors and can choose frozen or on the rocks. Service was slow to start, but fortunately the folks working the restaurant cover for each other and we were able to get menus before we saw our server. Once our server came back from wherever she had been, we had very good service. The atmosphere is casual and quite dark at night. If you tend to be sensitive to cold, bring a jacket or sweater as it's a pretty open area, and tends to be cool. We enjoyed our dinner here and I recommend trying it out. Prices were fine. Dinners were in the range of $16-$25.“
