Slippery Mermaid is always awesome. My wife and I have come here multiple times and the food is always extremely well prepared and fresh. The best part about it is that they are very good when it comes to gluten free options, which is helpful for us since my wife and some of our friends have celiac disease. Everything is made with care and we keep coming back because of that!

We have been coming to this establishment every year we visit Navarre being former residents and living elsewhere now on Military orders. We always enjoyed the atmosphere and food.
However, we now have a 2 year old picky eater. We brought him his own snack knowing well that he would not be able to eat anything from a sushi restaurant.
We were seated, about to order and he was calmly eating his snack.
The waitress then told us we could not have any outside food or drink. I let her know we would have to go elsewhere.
Unfortunately they lost us as customers indefinitely as we wouldn’t be able to visit here with a child. Pretty upsetting as they did have good food.

I wouldn't call this "authentic sushi" but nevertheless pretty good. I love their large portions of miso soup and restaurant aesthetic. I would have wished they had more plain sushi options like a salmon roll. It also would have been nice to include that the salmon sashimi bowl came with purple cabbage, which the person with me who ordered it thought did not pair well with the rice and salmon. I did appreciate the great service. Our waiter was this friendly girl with pretty curly hair. Please tip her well!

Honestly, it pains me to even post this but I’ve had enough. I’ve been coming here for years at this point because the sushi is some of the best in the area. However, the service.. and mostly the wait times are insane. I’ve been here probably 50+ times and it’s always a minimum hour+ wait from the time you order till the food is on the table. I’ve tried coming at odd times or days and it’s typically the same. We dined on a Saturday, showed up at 3:30, sat down at 4, then waited an hour and 45 minutes for our food. The bar side was closed so there were about 8 tables being waited on total. We got a chief roll as part of our meal and the two things we asked not to have were on it. I am only posting this because I hate to see this restaurant fail. You guys need to get it together. Your kitchen is sooooooooo slow that it amazes me you’re still in business.lol. Exaggerated? I would like to see that footage cause it was much longer than that. Your quick response to this says it all. You’re right about one thing though, you’re definitely not fast food.

The Slippery Mermaid restaurant serves mostly sushi but also some appetizers, bowls, and alcoholic beverages.My husband and I ate dinner here one time. The restaurant appeared to have only nine tables, so we had to wait for a table to become available. The waitress’s service was slightly slow but courteous. I ate salmon and crab sushi, and my husband ate tuna and steak sushi. We had not previously eaten steak sushi at other restaurants, so we felt excited to try it. All of the sushi was fresh and tasted good.

Very unprofessional workers, the girl sitting tables laughed in our face after explaining our frustration about waiting a hour for a table when people walking in after us got a table before us, spoke to the manager and they both basically called us a liar after explaining that she did not once call our name after telling us she did, we ended up leaving because I have never seen such unprofessional service.*edited because I can’t respond* we were never told how they would communicate to us to be seated we assumed they were calling names because she called everyone’s name to be seated except for ours, I rated your food 1 because I would of loved to eat but your disorganization & immature workers ruined that. She never apologized when it was definitely her mistake, regardless of the situation you shouldn’t have a 17 year old in charge of night that has a hour wait if she is to immature to communicate correctly.

absolutely horrible service and experience. after leaving our name we waited, and waited, and waited, and watched other laterarrivals be seated. We asked the extremely rude hostess when we would be seated and she said next, and then however, 3 or 4 customers later we still were waiting so we asked to speak to what turned out to be an equally rude manager. The hostess lied and said she called our name several times and so she skipped us and then said she also texted us which both were lies... she then started calling us liars and laughing in our faces when we became frustrated. instead of solving the issue the manager said I have to make sushi and walked away... the hostess "in all her 17" year old power basically said what are you going to do now. So we left. How disappointing that a restaurant was left to the professionalism of a 17 year old. I'd suggest looking elsewhere unless you're able to Make it past the poor customer service. im sure it's not much better inside...as far as the response the owner is still uneducated about what happened that night, the hostess called us numerous names, lied about using the text system, never put us in the system, laughed about this, and I made this clear in the review I was next to the counter and she saw us and said we were next when I asked why we weren't seated. This is on the restaurant, own it apologize and work on your customer service and maybe you'll get better reviews.

I sat at the bar because all other seating was by wait. A little unusual for the bar side to be set up this way, but whatever.The sushi was the best I've had in Pittsburgh. The drinks were okay, seemed the bartender wasn't familiar with what I ordered but it was strong.Had some trouble ordering and paying, took a few minutes to get some attention. But I'll be back.

Have officially gone to both Navarre and Sewickley locations. Woo Hoo! Amy, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Made our experience at the Sewickley location well worth the drive from the city. We shared a total of 4 rolls. The tropical mermaid, the slippery mermaid, the tiger roll, and the philly roll. Yum ! Will definitely be back, whether it’s this location or the one on the beach ?
