I used to go to the CC Peppers downtown location in the late 90's when I was a student. It was a favorite. This was my first time back since and the food was exactly the same. My boys agreed! The cheese fries were a wonderful mess!

Great subs, great fries, good value for the price. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. Check out their daily specials for a good value meal+drink combo, they have a different one every day.My personal favorite sub is the meatball sub, it's excellent. These guys also definitely bleed Blue and White! ? Go PSU!!Vegetarian options: Sandwiches have clearly labeled ingredients, easy to make a vegetarian selection.Dietary restrictions: No peanuts usedParking: Free parking out front in the lot.Kid-friendliness: Menu is simple yet good, pretty kid friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor restaurant, no steps besides the curb. Entrance double doors might be tricky, however.

Still the best Philadelphia cheese steak sandwich in State College. It reminds me of ordering cheese steaks from food trucks in West Philadelphia during my college days.

Food was good. Was the cheesesteak as good as Philly? Not exactly, but it was close. The cook seemed to know how to work that grill. The order taker gladly explained the extensive menu. Wrapped very well for take-out. The dining room could use a face-lift.

Used to be an absolute must visit spot when traveling to state college. Now barely stop as the past few experiences haven't been great. Either the food was overdone, dry or the service was no good. Miss the old times when the subs were good and only $7. Now they are more and quality went down.

Had the buffalo chicken sub on more than one occasion, it was perfectly made each time. The staff was very friendly each time I went in, and I had no problems with them or the food

Food tasted great but cheesesteak was wrapped in 4 yards of wrapping paper. Online prices are half of in-store prices. Besides that overall good experience and the twin tower sized 32oz barrel of soda was the cherry on top. The bathroom felt like a jail cell with a door that didn’t lock so my dad had to face away from the door and pee prison style so intruders wouldn’t see his wang.

The taco salads are the best you can get, the shell is very crispy. The interior could use a refresh, things look a bit out dated and the kitchen looks well used. Let's be real though, you're there to eat not to look at the restaurant.

Health violation waiting to happen with staff who not only doesn't care about you but goes out of their way to find ways to hate you for giving them money. They used to be really, really good. But since the younger owner bought this place years ago, it's really gone downhill. What a shame.

Back in the day when Herlocher owner the multiple CC Peppers locations in town, it was *THE* place to find the best cheesesteaks and subs. Almost everyone in town loved CC Peppers. Fast forward to today and you have a sloppy, rude owner who hired burnt-out, equally sloppy and rude staff. Cold cuts are typically at the end of their life, the lettuce is often littered with wilted/brown bits, and the grill used to make your cheesesteak isn't cleaned very often. Also, I've never seen the staff wash their hands after handling dirty stuff, so I'm surprised this place hasn't been slapped with a health code violation. One annoyance is that back in 2022 they had their own masking policy when everyone else in town stopped masking requirements due to township recommendations. I had no problem wearing a mask back then if a shop owner requested it. But if you forgot to bring your own, they wouldn't even give you a disposable mask. They'd simply refuse service. Another annoyance is that this place used to only take cash. They were one of the few hold outs to switch to credit/debit cards not too long ago. And even with cards they're weird about it. They have a card minimum and I swear they bought their card machine used as a relic of the past since it takes forever to run it and print you a receipt. A final annoyance for me is the way they have you line up and process your order. It's not friendly, as it's more akin to a Seinfeld episode than anything inviting. You can't see the toppings, you have a giant menu on the wall that you can't view ahead of time until it's your turn, and the staff expect you to order everything in their own way. Don't even think about asking them a question unless you want to get chewed out for it. But besides the annoyances, what drove me away permanently was the increasingly worsening sanity conditions combined with the extremely rude staff. When the staff look at you as an inconvenience instead of a valued customer, it's time to stop giving them any money.

Food is good, but they barely put meat on your cheese steak and gouge you for extra meat and cheese. $15.95 for a 14 inch with a skimping of meat $24.95 with extra meat(which is about a normal portion)"Prices are up" are their only response. Go across the parking lot to Bradley's Cheesesteaks and pay half that and don't have to order the extra meat.
