What this restaurant does well, it does particularly well. The carbonara is excellent, and easily their top entrée. The limoncello makes for an excellent dessert. Conversely, other entrées, such as the flounder, are okay but not necessarily the best you'll have. The location's ambience is very inviting, conveying, a sense of intimacy and elegance. The service is very good and attentive. It very much has the feel of a date night destination on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening.

Enjoyed another great meal with my wife at Allen Street Grill. The chef and staff continue to outdo themselves. From the appetizers to the desserts, they were all well presented and were delicious. We have yet to be disappointed with any of the meals we have had there. Highly recommend!

Starting with our outstanding server Kip to our 3 course fabulous dinner, our experience at Allen Street Grill was extraordinary,. It was not what we would have expected as it is in the heart of a college town and one would not expect to have truly great and unique dishes.

Allen Street Grill is an absolute gem in downtown State College. Started with the lobby bar for a craft cocktail. Once seated, we took the waiter's suggestions and tried a few different appetizers. All were excellent! Next came warm bread with salted butter-so good. For entrees, 2 of us had Pasta Carbonara, 2 had the fish dish and 1 had his absolute favorite, the pork chop. We were all very happy with our selections. Wine list offerings, by the bottle and the glass, paired well with all of the dishes. Great night!

Outstanding! For my wife's work, we visited your city on the day after my Feb. 5 birthday. On a whim we celebrated at the Allen Street Grill. I am so happy that we did as the food, drinks, and atmosphere were top notch! We popped in without a reservation and thank the staff for its friendly and thorough service. We also met several local regulars and they added to the charm of your good place. I highly recommend the duck meatloaf!!! Yum!

Had a group dinner here. Food was fantastic; I definitely recommend trying out one of their starters (so flavorful!). Our waiter was rushed and frantic (seems like he was having a stressful day), but the chef and support staff who helped were cheerful and relaxed, so still a good service experience in sum. Will definitely be going back (but not too much or my wallet will hate me).Vegetarian options: Need to ask for a vegetarian menu separately
We came back to this restaurant because we thoroughly enjoyed the Shellfish Ribollita. Of course we ordered it and it lived up to our expectations yet again. We also ordered the Bucatini Carbonara because we had seen another patron enjoying it and we looked forward to enjoying it as well. It was good but not amazing. We were told by our server that her favorite item on the menu is the duck meatloaf so we hope that we can make it back there before the menu changes. We love the atmosphere and the cocktails are well balanced and nicely presented.

I have not been to the Allen Street Grill for a few years but I was so impressed with how they've redone this restaurant and the food was outstanding! And service was impeccable. We had a nice table looking out over College Avenue and Allen Street. Would highly recommend if looking for a good place to eat in State College.

As always, the food and service was exemplary. We had the duck meatloaf and the salmon. Both were delish. Becky's hospitality makes us feel so special.... And Chad was very attentive to our dining. Wonderful way to start a Penn State weekend!

Visiting the campus with prospective students and called last minute to get a res for our party of 8. The manager was incredibly accommodating and fit us in. From the moment we sat until we left, the service was very attentive, helpful and friendly (and patient!). The 4 teen boys enjoyed their charcuterie board app and 4 moms loved their crudo and beet apps. The pastas were delicious and seafood stew was exceptional. Super dish! Seafood very fresh. Only note was we would have liked it served a little warmer. Drinks very good too. This place is a gem and would put it next to any big city restaurant. Also, bathrooms were pristine (and this is a college town so that's really a nice touch). The male & female owner/managers were making sure everything was well taken care of. Highly recommend!

Overall we had a very nice dinner. Our server, Chad was very friendly and helpful. The pork chop and chicken were very tasty. The only disappointment was the apple dessert...more cranberries than apple and the caramel was almost burnt. Other than that we enjoyed the meal.
Casey provided great service last night! She was friendly, knowledgeable, social when appropriate. She made ir a very enjoyable experience.
