The building is very nice and historical. The room we sat in was very cold and the seats were uncomfortable. Appetizer was the Twelves Bread and it was excellent with fresh mushrooms and goat cheese. The black bean soup was tasty, fresh and hot. Nice. I ordered a lager beer that was locally brewed and I couldn't finish it; it had an "off" taste, so I ordered the double IPA and it was tasty and fresh. They took the lager off my bill. My partner had the Pinot Franc; it was watered down. The entrees were the Crab Cake sandwich and the Steak and Fries. The flat iron steak was ordered medium and it was prepared as such. Although the steak had nice flavor and was hot, several pieces were rubbery and inedible. The fries were hot but unremarkable. The crabcake was cooked on the outside but the inside was runny and bland tasting. Salt was not even discernible. The German chocolate cake was tasty as was the carrot cake. The prices were a bit high for the quality. We may give it another chance and try the lunch menu, but otherwise, we won't be back. The restaurant staff was friendly and accommodating.

this used to be a go-to place for a dinner out, but once the original owners sold out, it went downhill fast - the last straw for me was a (white) fish dinner that was served still frozen. can't recommend any more...

They were very busy, and the waitress let us know that, and that was absolutely fine. The food was some of the most bland I've ever had at a restaurant. My sister had to add salt, SALT, to her roasted beet salad because it was so lacking in flavor. The roasted pears weren't even cooked all the way, the pistachios on it were overcooked, the Brie was thin and mostly the outside shell with very little taste, and the bread slices were completely burned. The crab cake on the sandwich was tiny, and ice cold in the middle. The turkey apple grilled cheese was not even cooked all the way. The turkey and apple were as cold as ice, and the cheese wasn't even melted. I sent it back to be cooked better, and it came back the exact same temperature. I asked to speak to a manager, and they just took my meal off the bill and didn't even offer to compensate or do it better. The chef is a lazy person and needs to be put in line. someone call in Gordon Ramsay please!

Menu items sounded delicious, but I've never had food so bland in my life. The roasted pear and brie was cold. The bread was burnt and the brie was close to it. I even had to add salt to the roasted beet salad because there is no way there was a citrus-shallot vinaigrette on it. Salt and the cranberries from the brie tray made the salad tolerable. The crab cake sandwich was cold in the middle and tasted like canned crab. Lastly, the turkey Apple grilled cheese was not technically a grilled cheese. Nothing about this sandwich was warm and comforting like grilled cheese is supposed to be. The turkey was ice cold and I wouldn't even consider the cheese melted.

We got take out. Ordered a bunch of appetizers. All were delicious. It's in an old bank, the vault looks to be the wine cellar.

Twelves used to do a good job of offering vegetarian options but no more. For lunch and dinner entrees - a roasted veg panini. It's disappointing and frustrating to have to order the same thing all the time. One of my family members loves to go, but we often choose somewhere else where everyone can enjoy. If you have a vegetarian in your party, go to Portabello's in Kennett.

I went here a few years ago and had a lovely meal. Today I met the same people I met here back then. Everything was on point. It's an old building (a bank I think) that the owners repurposed. Plenty of parking. They have a private room in the back if you're looking for a party of 20 I'm guessing. I had the burger with cheddar and bacon. The temperature was the way I requested and the meat blend was tasty and properly seasoned. The other dishes look fine and I think there are vegetarian options available. The owner who didn't announce she was the owner came over to refill our glasses so she is hands on with the management of the restaurant. I'm not always in the area but if you are, it should be on your radar

To be honest, I did not expect much from a little cafe in west grove. How wrong I was! This place totally blew me away. Best collard greens and close to the best duck I have ever had. The croissant with summer berries and semisweet cream was a triumph of a dessert. This is far and away the best restaurant in the area! Can't wait to return.

First time going to this wonderful restaurant Twelves…We had the burgers, the truffle fries, the mushroom soup, the wedge salad, the rack of lamb and the steak and the sangria and the 12s appetizer bread and finally we had to desert death by chocolate with homemade ice cream and the strawberry rhubarb shortcake, everything was a 10 out of 10! The service was wonderful. We can’t wait to go back to this amazing place!!
