TLDR: Absolutely disgusting place. Filthy, unsanitary restaurant, and mediocre food. Avoid.Full review:La Porte Grecque is an absolutely disgusting place. It is the most revolting restaurant I have ever been to - and I've been to some pretty bad restaurants in developing countries. This one beats them all - everything was filthy and unsanitary. We had dinner there with a group of 14 (including four small children) last weekend and we were actually shocked at how gross it was. Several of us had driven a long time from out of town so we decided to stick around and eat there anyway - what a mistake. We were seated upstairs where it is dark and carpeted. The stairs and carpet were black and sticky everywhere, as if they had never been vacuumed or washed. There was dust on every surface, cobwebs in the corners, old rotting food on the floor, in the corners, and under the tables. There was a large open garbage can in the corner that stank. The chairs were dirty and sticky. The menus were dirty. Even the salt and pepper shakers on every table were filthy, with grime, grease, dried sauce on every single one that I picked up.The windows were dirty, and even the light switches and heating controls were brown with years of accumulated dirt. The emergency exit door upstairs was taped shut, lots of pink fiberglass insulation was coming out of the frame around the door, and the door handle itself was broken.Six of the 14 people in our group are vegetarian so I asked about veg options. The waiter said, "Sorry, we don't have any veg options", to which I replied, "what about the spanakopita?". He realized his mistake and said, "Oh, yeah, I guess that's vegetarian, we can make it a platter for you." We thanked him and that's what we ordered. The non-veg meals all arrived a good 30 minutes before ours so everyone else was finished by the time we got our veg meals...and they were not good. Wilted salad with a watery creamy dressing, undercooked parboiled rice, mushy, sour-tasting spanakopita and bland potatoes, all tossed in a heap on the plate. We ate quickly and got ready to leave. To top it all off: there is one small washroom downstairs, and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks - actual layers of urine, feces, hair and dirt on the urinal, toilet, walls, sink - quite horrific. The dirtiest bathroom I have every seen, much dirtier than any backwoods gas station public bathroom I have ever visited. I mentioned it to the three staff who were at the front reception area and asked them to clean it. I explained that we had young children with us who would need the bathroom, and little kids tend to touch everything. When my toddler had to use the bathroom, I checked first and it had not been cleaned. I had to insist that someone come in with some rags to at least wipe down some surfaces. The youngest one there grabbed some rags, came in, said "wow, that's bad, sorry about that!", quickly wiped down the toiled while gagging, apologized again and ran out. Everything else was still filthy so I basically had to hold my kid up while he went to the bathroom. At the end, the waiter asked me how everything was. I told him that the service was ok, but the food was not good and the place was revolting. I told them that they needed to get a cleaning crew in asap. He apologized, and told me that the wait staff have mentioned this to the owners several times, but they just don't care. The place is always packed because it's cheap and it's a "bring your own wine" restaurant, so they are making lots of money and they won't do anything about it.La Porte Grecque was already fined twice by the city of Montreal for unsanitary and unhygienic practices. I'm surprised they aren't fined every year and that their restaurant license isn't suspended. If the owners don't care about how gross the publicly accessible spaces are, I can only imagine what a horror show the kitchen must be.Avoid at all costs. This vile place

Everything was fine except for the hot pikilia it was breaded fried and had absolutely no taste. I recommend the cold one which has the cheese, spinach pie and other delicious Greek specialties. Other than that we always come out of the restaurant content.

Very rude employee. Not good for business. Should change their hours of operations at the door because they don’t reflect the real

As always, tasty food, nice atmosphere and very professional and friendly service. I went there on December 30th, and I had Cesar Salad, calamri, and Origano Chicken. Everything was excellent and very tasty. All people with me appreciated their choices, too. We were sitting upstairs. It was the 1st time for me to be sitting upstairs, I liked it a lot, very nice and cozy ?. Our server was an excellent young man, very dynamic, professional, nice, and friendly.

This quaint, almost institution has been on Sources for decades...in the same old, stone farm house. The restaurant has expanded over the years and is a bit of a hodge podge, with the main central dining area surrounded in the original stone with wood paneling trim and the an newer addition that does not exactly fit with the interior theme...which is very cozy. The menu offers all the typical Greek offerings although the menu itself is not as plentiful as other similar cuisines around Montreal. For our meal we had the Lentil Soup (very good), the Spanikopita (excellent...terrific filo and spinach pastry), the Taramosalata (also excellent) and the Oregano Chicken Filet (very good...with well marinated chicken breast although the portion of roasted potatoes could have been larger...but this is a very minor complaint). The only downside was the baklava dessert. When discussing it with our server (who was excellent, by the way), he acknowledge that it was not made in house until the rest of our food. So, it was clear, that their home made dishes are very good...just ask before ordering. Enjoy!
