Editing my review to address the manager/owner response.As I mentioned in my original review below, your serving staff did explain the promotion process and left out the fact that it was lunch and dinner only. If you truly did hand out thousands of envelopes; it is completely impossible that no mistakes were made during that process. Obviously, by my experience, mistakes were made.I am not the only one who experienced this either. As we left the restaurant this morning, an old woman had the promotional envelope in her hand. I told her it doesn’t count during breakfast and she said that’s not what she was told.As for “competitive” pricing, I am not sure charging $40 for a meal that takes less than $10 to make would constitute as competitive.You say you would hate to lose me as a regular customer yet your response to my review held no accountability or apology.Your response has ensured that we will not return. We used to go multiple times a year; whenever family visited, anytime we wanted to go out for breakfast, and whenever we wanted to order a pizza, we’d order from Dinty’s.***Dinty’s used to be our favourite place. Ever since the remodel, it’s gone downhill. The prices have skyrocketed and the food quality has degraded. I took my daughter for brunch, I got a breakfast special and she got pancakes - it was over $40 and they have the machine set to a minimum 18% tip.We went in December of 2023 and the server gave us an envelope at the end of our meal and said “to come back in January to get a prize. Just don’t open it, the server has to.”Wasn’t a nice surprise to find out this morning that going for breakfast “doesn’t count and we’d have to come back for dinner.“There was a message on the envelope but I trusted the server in her explanation and did not read it (yes, I know, my mistake). Though I think it’s fair to mention the message was not bilingual.The whole thing felt very sleazy and I am sad to say, that after years of it being a favourite, we won’t likely to go back.
