Surprisingly good coffee and muffins.Normally, you do not expect it from a franchise shop, but this place is a pleasant surprise. Also, very comfy and chill atmosphere for a conversation and some work.

Best coffee shop in Old Montreal! The workspace is great. The staff members are very kind and friendly. The coffees and smoothies are great. I strongly recommend the goat cheese and chicken sandwich, as well as their iced matcha lattes!

This writer thrives on the three things reviewed. My egg and sausage muffin was delicious and it was my second visit. There is a 6$ special right now, 12 Oz. Coffee, egg, sausage/or ham/ or bacon, and a great seat. Spent 4 hours here last visit, met a great future reader of my books.

I have been here many times out of convenience and not choice. The overall food/coffee is decent and staff friendly. However, my issue is with their inconsistency of service. I have lost count at the number of times they forgot to prepare my order or were very slow in making my coffee.

Walking from Victoria Square to tge Science Museum in tge Old Port with my 4 year old toddler on a chilly afternoon, the Van Horne Cafe is ideally located at the halfway point.Bouncing up the stairs, the 4 year old was unusually cooperative with all my suggestions, including this one. We walked to the glass case containing some of the offerings. An explosion of berries muffin caught his eye. He'd this with a glass of water with ice.Myself, I decided on an apple muffin and a coffee. Of course.I loved the service. Very friendly. Asked if I would prefer a mug or a to go mug. What about a plate for the muffins, or 2, one for each? I never get asked this at other chains and I do usually have a preference. The set up at the Cafe is nice and cozy. Spacious and no one is on top of each other. Pretty sweet spot too for people watching. The explosion muffin was one of the best ever according to the 4 year old and he generously stuffed my mouth with a taste. He asked for a bite of mine and was disappointed that the piece he broke off didn't have any apple. Tastes like cinnamon he said. I broke off a piece with apple and he was impressed. Delicious.Kid-friendliness: Comfortable seating, friendly staff.

It's a locally-based coffee store chain. And the product is good. So stop here and get a coffee drink like we did.
