Authentic Chinese (don't expect the waiter to understand English well!) Not expensive, massive menu! Everytime I come it's quiet.

Went to this restaurant so much pre pandemic, then ordered take out during it. Great if your craving spicy Chinese food! Portions are bigger when you dine in rather than take out!

I used to go to Cuisine Szechuan all the time pre-2016. It was the best Szechuan I'd had in Montreal and recommended it to people all the time. So good. I moved far away, came back a couple of years ago, and just re-tried it for the second time. First time was earlier in the pandemic for takeout - seemed greasier and less good than it used to but it was also best eaten in person so I gave it a go the other day. I didn't know that the ownership had changed but it was obvious. The waitress was friendly and I have no complaints about the service or speed but she did not seem to know what the items on the menu were. She asked someone from the kitchen a question I had about a dish and he also didn't seem to really know what I was looking for (a dish we had repeatedly ordered there in the past) and the dish they gave me was not at all what it used to be. Nothing tasted like it had much Szechuan flavour anymore and was much more bland. The green beans with pickled veg for example - still well cooked and somewhat tasty but lacked spice and I couldn't taste much if any Szechuan pickled vegetable. The shredded potato dish which used to be served as a small cold dish with vinegar and Szechuan red peppers has become an enormous pile of oily shredded potato with no discernible vinegar or spice, dumped on a plate. The braised eggplant and tofu was not the yu xiang eggplant I asked for and had a less spiced non-sweet sauce was fairly decent. Sadly I will probably not go back again, not because the food was terrible or anything but it did not at all taste like Szechuan-style food as it used to.

Amazing place! Food is Szechuan authentic! Every single plate we've ordered was finger licking good! (we were 5 people) Not over spicy! Waiter and new Owner very friendly! Service is A1! This is not a paid review, it's a must try place!!Vegetarian options: A ton of Vegetarian Options! Dietary restrictions: Dishes are easily adaptable to accommodate many restrictions.

Sadly, Cuisine Szechuan has closed. It has been an iconic part of my family's yearly visits to Montreal for over a decade. We have loved this place. We ate there a couple months ago and had a wonderful meal. We arrived back today, excited to have an early reprise of the meal a couple months ago, but the menu looked different. Then, we realized the name of the restaurant had changed, though the inside looked the same. The waiter explained that the new restaurant had taken occupancy a couple weeks prior. We ordered only a few dishes to "test the waters." Forty minutes later, there was only one other table still eating, and one of the men from that table was going back into the kitchen to get attention. There were two takeout/delivery service people getting very frustrated and wasting their time going in and out and trying to get the attention of people in the back of the kitchen. Forty-five minutes in, we had only received water and hadn't seen the waiter except at the very beginning of the meal. We decided to leave after ringing the bell on the counter and getting no attention. We offered him twenty dollars since we were getting up and going. He refused it, and didn't try to get us to stay--it was clear they had not even started our food yet. It was a sad, sad end to Cuisine Szechuan for my family. We had many joyful vegetarian meals there, and it was always a highlight of our trips to Montreal. Thank you for everything, Cuisine Szechuan! Retire in peace!

Place is closed and reopened with non-szechuan food and a new name. Seems disorganized and slow so far but we have hopes it will be decent.

Been coming here for many years already. Many delicious spicy dishes, but have non-spicy options for the weak.

I love Szechuan food and was excited to try. So, I ordered online. The food smelled like old moldy vegetables and old grease. I threw all dishes that ordered via doordash. It was unsafe to eat. Definitely don’t recommend this place.

Best service but worst foods. The portions are small and materials are bad quality. If they want to attract more people, they need to use the authentic materials.

Tastes great! Portion is a bit small, but it's also not that expensive so I won't complain (you can just order more). Everything tastes very authentic, and it's not THAT spicy as you would imagine from looking at it, so feel free to try it!

Ive been coming here on and off for several years and haven't been in a while so I decided to come back. We got the cumin lamb and the green beans with ground pork. I could not believe how little lamb they gave us! It was literally 95% onions and 5% lamb and for 15-16$ it's unacceptable. While I hate to leave a bad review to a restaurant during these tough times this was really bad. The green beans were good and of a decent portion atleast. I will stick to Kanbai for now and maybe revisit one day when things get back to normal.

Although the food was quite tasty, two of the items were not as described. The ginger shallot beef was with caramelized onions (I was actually looking forward to the shallots), and the Shanghai vermicelli were actually udon noodles (specifically what I was trying to avoid, because I don't care for the thickness). But again, apart from that, the food taste good. The other issues was the packaging. For things with sauce, I'm very surprised they use styrofoam packaging that doesn't seal shut. When I got my food, it was literally swimming inside the bag because all the liquid from the beef poured into the bag. The plastic package they used for the chicken wasn't good either. That thing leaked all over the place as well. My spring rolls were very soggy and it made a big mess in my kitchen.
