The Maman Sylvie could not have hit the spot any more for my two teens and me after a very long ramble through the city. The bread was particularly excellent, which you can’t count on even in an otherwise perfectly good sandwich. What a lovely little place!

Très mauvais endroit. Fuyez.Le café ferme à 17h, nous sommes venus à 16h20. L'endroit était vide, il n'y avait aucun client, et pourtant, l'employée qui était présente ne faisait rien. Elle nous a vus rentrer, et elle est restée sur son téléphone à jaser comme si de rien n'était et à se promener ici et là. Aucun accueil, aucun bonjour, aucun "attendez un instant et je suis à vous", non... elle continue de bavasser sur son téléphone sans même nous regarder, alors qu'on attend à la caisse pour commander. Nous sommes partis car c'était une perte de temps et décidemment, nous n'allons pas être servis! Si c'est comme cela l'accueil et l'attente qu'ils font aux clients alors que l'endroit est totalement vide... OUF.... je ne voudrais pas m'imaginer à quoi ressemble la suite. Stopped here for lunch while shopping on mild end. We could barely read the menu(in French) but all ordered the meat sandwich and it was the most pleasant surprise. The bread, meat, cheese, and gravy were so flavorful. We all agreed this is one of our favorite things we ate in Montreal.
I'm a lost Canadian, but unfortunately ;-( live in NYC. However I'm smart enough to visit Montreal often. And I know it's the place where food excels! So every time we visit, we have a few breakfasts or lunches at Chez Ta Mere.It's so good my mouth is watering like Pavel's dog's did!!
