What an amazing meal at Sinsemilla! We were astounded that there was just one chef in the kitchen and one server as they didn’t miss a beat the entire 7-course meal on a busy Saturday eve. The server flawlessly explained each course in English for us. I had the vegetarian version and it was certainly created with as much creativity and care and flavour as the non-veg. Unpretentious, high-quality fine-dining at its best.Vegetarian options: Exceptional vegetarian seven-course meal.

Best restaurant ever, that’s what my partner and I said to each other when we left the restaurant! Rare are the dishes which, even after eating them, leave us with a silly little smile on our face... Even when I got home I couldn't calm my excitement in the face of so many flavors and creativity. We will return there for sure!Ps: I was 35 weeks pregnant, so I was afraid I wouldn't be able to eat all the dishes. Well no, the chef simply removed the foods I wasn't allowed to eat and offered me alternatives for others. We always feel a little guilty asking to change a winning recipe but my requests were very well received! Thanks again!

Kitchen :The food was excellent overall. The dishes were creative and helped create a cohesive dining experience that rose beyond the sum of its parts. The flavors were well balanced and the preparation, flawless. The only downside was possibly the asking price, but we are ambivalent about that. For $80 per person (taxes included), we were treated to 5 dishes (+ 1 appetizer that did not appear on the menu). These were generous for a tasting menu, but it was only one plate to share per course, which represents a price of around thirty dollars per dish. Considering the quality of the ingredients and the time investment required for some preparation methods, we probably got our money's worth, but we didn't necessarily leave feeling that way.Service :We were slightly delayed from the first service, however the dishes always arrived in good time and they were happy to explain them to us. The glasses of water were filled regularly. Overall, the service was very good.Atmosphere :The first thing that struck us upon entering the restaurant was the strong smell of cannabis. It is true that this is the theme of the restaurant and that we can find references to it everywhere inside, but it was still unexpected. This doesn't seem to have been mentioned in the reviews I read, so I assume it was the exception rather than the rule.Likewise, we didn't expect to be treated to a playlist consisting of Evanescence, rock covers of Careless Whippet and other rock hits from a few decades ago. As the restaurant took a while to fill up after our arrival, we would have preferred a more subtle soundtrack.

Truly a great experience! Make sure you book.Sinsemilla has the concept where they have a set 5-course-menu, which seems to be changed every month. Sam and his colleague are the only two who work and manage Sinsemilla, so you have to keep in mind that they are 2 to manage a small restaurant with about 30 seats where they serve a 5-course-menu and take the time to explain what is being served. When we arrived, Sam very nicely greeted us. One could feel that he is passionate about what he does and is happy to share their creations. As we sat down, we were given the menus and Sam made sure we had all questions aside before deciding what to order. They have a small à-la-carte selection but personally I would stick to the menu if you are a curious eater who likes to try out new things. We also opted for the drink-set. Each course is accompagnied by a wine of Sam and the chef's choice. As the dishes arrived one by one, Sam explained to us what every piece in the dish was and served the paired wine, for which he also offered an explenatiom if why they went for that specific wine.We were in for a treat! Each dish was unique in its own way. Flavours, textures and aesthetics were all lovely. The wines really enhanced the flavours of the dishes and vice versa, so we were happy we ordered their drinks-pairing. To be honest, I could write pages of how good and new the 5-course-menu was. A true culinary journey, led by Sam. He really made our night. If we really wanted to pick on a few items:1. The cutlery was a bit cheap, I think they could probably upgrade to some more "classy" cutlery, despite the very chill atmosphere. They didn't change cutlery between each dish. Considering they are just 2, I think it's fine.2. Different wines were served in the same glasses (except red and white). But again, considering they are 2 managing about 30 customers, that's really a small detail that doesn't take away how exceptional we thought Sinsemilla is.If you are in Québec, don't miss a chance to come here and have a culinary journey.
