I moved away from RI 9 years ago. While back home to see family, we visited Davenport's in Cumberland for the extensive gluten free menu to accommodate my celiac. Everything was wonderful, and the Portuguese kale soup especially tasted like childhood and home. Thanks so much.

Booked a dinner reservation for 2 at 430pm tonite, 45 min before we even arrived on Opentable. Upon checking in the hostess was beyond rude & claimed they were super busy & she just saw our reservation. She attempted to seat us at a tiny table which wasn't acceptable. When I said I wanted another one, she made an obnoxious comment saying this is what you get without a reservation. I immediately corrected her informing her I had in fact made one! Manager overheard our conversation & did absolutely nothing! We were given another table after being told we had exactly 90 minutes. Food was OK nothing special but our server Riley was excellent. We are frequent customers however will definitely think twice about returning after being treated so rudely by front desk staff from the time I checked in until we were actually seated!

This restaurant checks off all my boxes! Excellent food, I got the prime rib special which was cooked perfectly! Great service, our server was a woman named Debbie, I think. Great music on speakers above (1970's soft rock - my favorite!) and not too loud! No TV's within view - yay! It's almost impossible to go to dinner these days and not have a TV screen within view, even in the classiest of restaurants! I find that SO distracting! So I was thrilled that we sat in the side room which does not have TVs. Also sat in a comfy booth which I also love. So overall, excellent. Thanks!

I went to eat here yesterday for lunch to celebrate Valentine's Day with my family. I got chowder and a lobster roll. Upon first bite I could tell the lobster was still slightly frozen. Or just very watery. I took one bite and felt weird. I ate half the chowder. I instantly didn't feel good but didn't put the two together. I got home and started puking for 7 hours. I had to cancel my date with my husband and miss work. I can't believe I paid to get that deathly ill. I was puking so bad I was in tears. The server was great, but there are some serious issues with the kitchen. Bad shell fish can be extremely dangerous. I am dehydrated and need an IV. Don't eat here!

The French onion soup was a disappointment. Broth was pretty good. They served it with a slice of bread and 1 square thin slice of cheese on top. (Not the traditional french bread with lots of bubbly cheese on top). The cheese didn't cover the slice of bread. The chicken kabobs were very good. The chicken broccoli and ziti had nice flavor, but was swimming in pasta water, rather than garlic and oil. Before I could take leftovers home I had to drain the water off my meal. My husband had the orzo soup and said it was good. We will still go here as it's a nice atmosphere and the staff is very nice.

Davenports is a great local, family friendly restaurant. There is always a manager and/or the owners in the restaurant to check on you and your meal. We feel at home when we are at Davenports. Great value, great food, great atmosphere.
