I had high hopes but they were dashed. Bought a baguette and it felt dry and off. I asked the salesperson if was fresh and she said it was baked that morning. Tough, dry and mediocre at best. Gave them another try, same thing. They don't have the hang of making baguette correctly which is kind of important if you call yourself a French bakery. Fatal flaw, they should get their act together, there are alternatives in Newport area. The pastries are okay, nothing special. They roast a turkey every other day so those are okay - as long as it's not made with their baguette.

If you don't like eating here you're either stupid or poor. Absolutely a certified 10 in my opinion and I've surveyed about three people on it. My buddy Rudy and I went in because we think one of the cooks is a little underprivileged and we just want to support him. Great place to eat and not get the hiv. Ciao, Bella!Parking: Parking was good.

The sandwiches were amazing!! However, i have NEVER in my life tasted a dryer piece of cardboard they like to claim is cake/cupcakes. Not worth the trip over the bridge.

There's a good vibe here. I was greeted by savory items like soup and shepherd's pie before reaching the bakery case with the desserts I was intending to bring to my hosts in Massachusetts. I would have been happy choosing one of everything in the case but settled on lemon bars and small key lime tarts. Sweet and citrusy, they were a hit and the perfect wrap-up to an early and unseasonably warm October dinner. The muted sage green walls gave the place a peaceful feeling. I loved the 50s cafe tables and chairs dotting the front of the shop. The woman who took care of me was friendly, lovely, and helpful, and within days I recommended it to someone who wanted a nice place to reunite with an old friend.

The inside looks a bit like a run down diner and the service is a bit slow. But the food there is great and I guess that is the number one reason to go there so I gave it 4 stars. Would be perfect if they fix up the interior a bit.

I would leave 0 stars if that was an option. On our way to Newport we decided to grab a quick breakfast, and it was the opposite of quick. We ordered 2 simple and very overpriced sandwiches (we are from the NYC area and could find a cheaper sandwich in Tribeca than this outdated cafe), and it took them over 25 minutes to make them. While we waited, the staff greeted many of their local customers who would then help themselves to going behind the counter or even into the kitchen. The sanitary conditions were questionable, and when we finally bit into our food, we discovered that it was inedible. My BLT had RAW bacon, about a cup of mayonnaise and unripe tomatoes. It was beyond disappointing and we should warn all out of towners to not waste their money here.

Friendly staff, good pastries (corn muffin, blueberry cream cheese, chocolate and sticky bun) and good coffee (cappuccinos). Did not have the breakie sandwiches but they looked good.

Lots of terrific options from freshly baked bread to pastries to cookies. All that on top of their great sandwich menu. I went to buy dessert to bring to a gathering. I went away with a dozen cookies that were a big hit. Have been before and will definitely go back.

Just stopped by this morning. I normally only leave positive reviews - owning a small business is hard. That being said, I was extremely disappointed by my experience. I ordered two cinnamon rolls (which came quickly & are delicious) & a bacon / egg / cheese on sour dough. After the server took our to go order, a few people came in. The staff quickly became overwhelmed. My egg sandwich sat at the pass for five minutes before either of the servers acknowledged its presence. Then they couldn’t figure out what the sandwich was or who it was ordered by. I stood right by the pickup window, knowing it was mine. I waited in a hot bakery for 15 minutes for an egg sandwich. When I got home (5 minute drive) the egg sandwich fell apart (literally). The bread wasn’t toasted. The egg was unseasoned. The bacon was wet. We paid over $10 for the egg sandwich alone. Definitely a bad first experience. Such a disappointing experience given their baked goods seem to be their saving grace.

Mmmuuuaahhh! Enough said. Grab a pastry with a friend. Frequented by locals and visitors alike. You won't be disappointed.

Used to be my go to place but after a rude experience about a year ago with a young blonde, I believe manager, I stopped going there. I recently heard she was gone and stopped in again. Part of my order included cranberry walnut muffins. Well we're home and haven't found a walnut yet. This place used to be so good, what happened? I have friends who feel the same way.
