This place is great! Best breakfast on Thames and the customer attention is awesome. Try the omelets and the sausage links rock. Staff is friendly and always smiling! Nice to see local people chatting over a great breakfast...See you very soon 12 Meter!

Amazing pecan waffle and staff was super friendly and attentive!! Creative menu and so many add options. Didn't have an omelette but they look legit.

Visited from PA. Party of four. Breakfast day1, Lunch day 2.Love 12 Meter Cafe! Great food, excellent service, all in a clean and cozy atmosphere, that is reasonably priced. The "Kipling" and the "Mary O" were fantastic! Would highly

A poor version of Gary's. The only thing different from Gary's handy lunch is the guy behind the grill. The menu is uninspired. It's a low-end diner. Same decor before. Same menu as before. Same waitresses before. How can you be a diner and sell pancakes and not even have real maple syrup? I would not go here again. Really kind of sad, they have a great opportunity if they would upscale it just a little bit.

We ate here on a Saturday afternoon, party of 6. We were served in an appropriate amount of time by a waitress who was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The food was great...not over the top awesome all around, but we had no problems. Actually, one item was ordered wrong. We asked for the Ricotta Toast and she brought out an amazing looking Avocado Toast. When we pointed out the error, she apologized and the cooks gave us what was ordered. That avocado toast's gonna be on my "try next time" list. The meals all come with tater tots...I guess that's their thing. The cooks were having fun with conversation in between working hard. The atmosphere was a lot quieter than the previous restaurant that occupied this spot. It seems that 12 Metre Cafe moved into this spot back in July 2023 and has not revamped most of the decor. It's still a red & white 50's theme. The one person unisex bathroom does not seem to be handicapped accessible as there were stairs up to it. Limited seating for larger groups at this Thames St location. It's located near a lot of shops so I'll likely return.Wheelchair accessibility: There are steps into the restaurant and multiple steps up to the restroom. This is an older building.

Crazy to see so many negative reviews for this cute lunch spot. I never went to the original 13 Metre Cafe but I was a long time customer of Gary's Handy Lunch. I love the updated menu of 12 Metre. They don't have corn beef hash. However, I love how you can add a single pancake or French toast piece/slice to your meal. Their side menu is fantastic. Lovely waitress who remembered or order when we returned the second day in a row. Food was 5/5. The potato's are tater tots and I would definitely prefer home fries potato style. We visit Newport once/twice a year. We'll definitely be back!!

Just moved to Newport 5 days ago and had my parents in town for a visit. We decided to try 12 Metre for Saturday morning breakfast. It was perfect. The diner atmosphere combined with incredible service, and delicious food makes this a destination we will come back to time and time again. Try the Vermonter, the Breakfast Burrito, or the Pancakes…you will not be disappointed!
