In a town guaranteed to deliver delicious seafood, this is the place to get it. Happy hour lunch deal will only set you back $1.50 an oyster. And they’re not small. Settle in with a cheeky beverage and the afternoon on Thames street Newport is all

We happened by chance to walk past and liked the menu, so we stopped in. It happened to be happy hour 12p-2p with $1.50 oysters. We had a dozen, and some clams, and some shrimp, and it was delicious! Friendly staff and a fun vibe. I would come back here for sure!

The place was freezing the minute that the door opened we froze, the Shrimp cocktail was very good, the Fish & Chips on the other hand, tasted like BLEACH absolutely horrible, won't be back.

Every year, we vacation in Newport . And every year, my wife wants lobster bisque at Benjamin. Have you ever seen brown, yes, dark brown, watery lobster bisque? Now I know it's not red chowder because that's what I had, and it was good. Bisque is a creamy pink/red color. Yes, it had lobster with a Bland taste . After waiting 20 minutes for the server to come back. We asked other servers if this is lobster bisque. One server said, and I quote I think so ?. I paid the bill and walked out to another restaurant for lobster bisque.

If you want to pay 19 for a lobster quesadilla w no lobster on it go to Benjamin's. WhenI asked the manager if that was normal she was confrontational.

We ordered the mussels, fish and chips, and raw oysters. Everything was delicious and sooo fresh. The red sauce the mussels were cooked in was so good and the portion was enough for four. The fish was also a really good size and not overly breaded at all. Oysters ....wow.

The bar is good, the food is excellent, and the downstairs bartender is fabulous! He's quick with a joke and to light up your smoke, if smoking was allowed. It isn't, but still he is just super! Other than the frequent bathroom breaks, but he has good fun with it. He wears it on his hat. Or maybe that's just about the tall tales he likes to tell about the fish he caught that was THIS big. Or when he was a tough guy that one time and got in a "pushing and shoving" match of epic proportions. Either was he's fun and can take a joke, which is good because we wouldn't want to insult him....

First time visiting Newport and was super excited to eat at Benjamins.. That never happened because when I arrived I was DENIED ENTRY because I had my SERVICE DOG with me!! Upon entering I was met with a hostess who immediately informed me that they did not allow dogs, I explained that my dog was a registered Service Dog, ( my dog was wearing her vest also), I explained to the Hostess that she was a service dog and she said it didn’t matter. I calmly explained to her about the ADA, she said it didn’t matter, and that point an older lady approached and reiterated that no dogs, even service , or ESA were welcome!! SHAME ON BENJAMINS!! Hard to believe something like this could happen…

Benjamin's in Newport Rhode Island is legit. We went specifically for the happy hour oysters. 1.50 apiece... harvested front right out front...salty like Carson/Nantasket Beach water accidently swallowed.....tender as tofu....did not disappoint. Then, the Portuguese Stuffed Clams. Piping hot studded with chorizo and spices. Killer. The fish and chips were the cripiest battered flakiest cod I've ever had. The coleslaw was really good. You can tell a lot about a place by the their slaw. But the crinkle fries stole the show. Do you know how when you get Sully's, 2 or 3 fries are cooked to perfection. Absolutely crispy crunchy on the outside but mashed potato fluffy on the inside? That's how every fry came. Worth the trip.

Fresh seafood and large portions. Some of the best clam chowder I’ve had. Benjamin’s linguini was loaded with fresh seafood. And the fish and chips was perfectly lightly fried and came with a ton of fish.
