This is not the Original Christie’s....please don’t confuse it with the incredible Christie’s Restaurant that my Grandfather Steve Christie started in the late 30’s. I don’t understand why they use his name.

When I was a child in the late 50's and early 60's my Grandmother wold take us to lunch at Christie's. In her understated words: A fine Newport restaurant" Forty years later I went back and was very disappointed. It was dingy, run down, smelled sort of rancid and the food was just plain lousy. So I didn't go back till very recently. What a pleasant surprise. All redecorated and lightened up, all new menu, new owners and a real pleasure to see one of Newport's original wharf area eateries resurrected. I had, as always a cup of clam chowder to start, and glory hallelujah, it had lots of clams in it. (Yes, I once did get a bowl of clam chowder with no clams in it in Newport several years ago.) The chowder was followed by grilled swordfish cooked correctly (Just Garlic Butter, salt, pepper and NOTHING ELSE) which was delicious. So Christie's is back and better than ever. It's a little further down Thames Street, but oh so worth it once again.

Saw in zagat as a casual, good spot to eat

Christie's had an awesome menu with great variety that caught our eye. The food lived up to our expectations and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our birthday celebration. Highly recommend as a fun spot for a big group.

The shrimps and mussels are extremely good. The staff is friendly and helpful and the place is not crowded. The special drink is a great idea.

Grilled shrimp and calamari were excellent. Service was excellent. My girlfriend asked for a rare drink they didn't know so they came back, asked a few questions, and then nailed it. Very friendly staff, good food, and not a super loud or crowded atmosphere.

Food is awful! 2 stars only for the Friendly staff. Place doesn't worth even to try it. Very dirty inside, dishes are not fresh, neither tasty. Upscale restaurant Prices for chain restaurant quality food. But the last I think, would be even better.

Unfortunately not a good experience. The website is deceiving and it looks like you're booking a reservation at 41 North but Christie's is not actually even connected to 41 North. Maybe they just opened? Or that's what it seemed like...slow service and not a quality meal. The staff seemed discombobulated and running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Fish tacos were dry and had bones ..salmon came out completely raw.. steak was not tender and not seasoned ...mussels were bland and also not seasoned ... Cocktails were ok and they did give us a free round due to lack of service. So that's pretty much the only positive. Next time we're in Newport we will be sure to make a reservation with the correct restaurant. With so many other amazing restaurants I would never need to give this place a second chance.

We were in Newport for a short get away and we were trying multiple restaurants. Christies was very good. Service was awesome. Food was excellent and very reasonable for Newport. Drinks were the cheapest by far and good. Had a lot of choices of craft beer and cocktails. Would definitely recommend. This is the only restaurant we rated while in Newport. Definitely try this hidden gem.

Stopped by Christie's last Sunday evening because they were the only place open at 8pm without a wait. We were immediately seated outside. The menu looked alright-- mostly standard American fare with occasional Asian Fusion twists (wut). Sadly I didn't get to taste anything-- not even a water! Our waitress (who was admittedly very busy covering the entire patio alone) came by after 15 minutes and took our drink orders. We ordered waters for everyone and a few other drinks. We waited over 30 minutes before our waitress returned to tell us they were out of two of the beers we ordered. She then disappeared for an additional 30 minutes before bringing out two beers and one cocktail.. Never received any waters nor the two missing diet cokes or beers. At this point, we decided that waiting to order food might take us several hours so we asked for the check. When we received it about 15 minutes later, the waitress apologized for the wait and let us know that she "took about half the items off for the trouble." This seemed very kind, but when we looked at the check we had actually just not been charged for the items we never received (cokes and beer) and were actually overcharged for the ones we did receive! It wasn't worth an argument so we paid and left. Overall, terribly disappointed and a waste of 1.5 hours. I'm sure the waitress was stretched to her limit, but management at Christie's needs to step up.

The service was very slow

The service here was deplorable. Sat down and literally everyone around us got service except us. Hmmmm makes me wonder ??
