Okay. Gary’s Handy lunch is okay. The waitress was not unfriendly but certainly not friendly. She never pointed out the specials listed on a blackboard. We would have definitely ordered one of those instead of the mediocre menu options listed on the dirty menus she threw on the table. . But she never said two words to us. The quality of the food is poor to fair. My grilled chicken sandwich was served on a stale bun. The meat was over cooked, tough and so stringy I felt like a caveman trying to chew it. Omelette was bland. Egg salad was nothing more than a chopped boiled egg mixed with miracle whip. And the prices were 3 times what they should have been. So no, I won’t be returning. $60 for a terrible light lunch for two adults and a kid. Gary's has become one of our favorite breakfast spots in Newport. They offer a large selection of breakfast classics in addition to several daily specials. We've never left hungry or disappointed. You will be quite satisfied with their delicious homestyle comfort foods. Just don't forget to bring cash. It's the only form of payment they accept.Kid-friendliness: My 5 year old son requested a Mickey Mouse pancake off the menu, and they happily obliged him.

Ordered a freedom burger which consisted of 2 patties, bacon, cheese and mayo. Very affordable tasty lunch. Iced coffee. Good service.

Best place to go for a cheap sit down breakfast! Average food, but that’s expected when your entire meal is under 10$. It’s also cash only. If you come in weekend mornings it’ll be packed. But the diner vibe is great!

A true family run business on the Newport strip. 3 generations of family working in the same place serving locals and tourists alike without variation. The clam chowder was a hearty cup with equal amounts of clams, potatoes and bacon. We shared the Fish and chips as watching the portions it was easy to share. It was perfectly fried cod with crispy chips. Overall this was diner in the truest sense of the word and it was a great find. They are a cash only business so be warned.

Arrived in Newport on Monday and was looking for a place to eat. Walking down the street from our hotel this was the only resturant open. Stopped in for breakfast. Glad we did. The food was exceptional and the staff is great. Will definately be back before we leave here heading home

Good atmosphere and staff but my Grilled Cheese had a half-inch thick slice of ham on it and the Cheese felt like it had been melted in a microwave. Otherwise pretty good.
