Came here for an event and noticed an old man was creeping on young girls. Come to find out he is the owner and has a reputation for getting guards to kick out people who call him out. I warned those around me out of concern before leaving. Think twice before coming here. Also drinks were expensive.

Great spot for a show! Intimate atmosphere - you'll feel like you're up there with the band.

Where mediocre straight white boys go to feel validated. Got hate crimed in the bathroom by some insecure 21 year olds. This place allows awful behavior from its patrons.

Now...open for breakfast and treats throughout the day!!! Small batch, artisan: blueberry muffins, lemon bread, the perfect brownie, chocolate chip cookies and more. Creative, refreshing (non-alcoholic) drinks: Newport Blues Lemonade, Cranberry Basil Spritz, Firecracker Punch....AND yes, more! Great band and atmosphere and service at the main bars, the side bar downstairs had some rude young chick who said the bar didn’t have any water

PROS: I came here when it was a nightclub. The live music and DJ were great while the people there were mature. The music was amazing while the atmosphere was cool CONS: they charged an admission due to the band. Also their phone is disconnected!! OVERALL: this is my top place to hit up on the nightlife spot in the area

On the night of 3/24 I came here and around 12am a man began filming my friend. I confronted the man and asked him to delete the video multiple times and he refused. I went to a security guard named DJ and told him the situation. He said there was nothing he could do because it was a public place. I then went to the older bouncer named Jason and explained the situation to him. He told me that since it was a public place they could not do anything. I asked him the name of the security guard inside multiple times to clarify because I could not hear. He angrily and rudely asked me why I asked so many times. He then said I shouldn’t be concerned about my friend because I was wearing a bra that showed my breasts. I said so you are sexually harassing me and he said no. I went to leave and I told another bouncer who was nice to me named Ethan that I would be reporting the situation to their boss. At this time Jason angrily stormed out and said “I’ll just tell him myself”. I began to video record him because he said it was a public place and okay to record before and he got very upset and would not admit what he said about my clothing. He then went to a police officer to report me and what was happening. He told the police officer I claimed the man was recording me and not my friend. He then clearly told the police officer I was wearing a bra so I said so you are sexually shaming me and he said no. He claimed he had a wife and kids and would not do that. He also said I was drinking and assumed I was drunk. I bought one drink and a shot from the bar when I arrived at 10pm. I’m sure this can be verified by my credit card in their system. Overall, I have learned that Newport Blues Cafe clearly supports predators, sexualizing young women, and sexually shaming. I am a curvy girl and have larger breasts. My shirt was a crop top but not a bra and he should not have been looking at my breasts. If I was skinny and had small breasts I do not believe this would have happened. As a long term Newport resident and someone that has gone to blues many times I’ve never experienced this. Older men should not be sexualizing young college girls especially if they work there every weekend. He let me in the the bar and did not have a problem with what I was wearing then. This establishment also does not have a formal dress code posted. If men are going to be working as bouncers they need sexual harassment training and shouldn’t be sexualizing anyone. Also it is the responsibility of the establishment to not over serve me so I should not have been accused of being too drunk to understand what was occurring unless it was their fault. This bar supports predatory behavior and sexual harassment.

Very disappointing. Last time I came - loved it. Last night. $10 cover for a band. Band was tuning for 30 minutes. Played the same sone twice and took an extended break. Left at 9P.

Never paid so much for drinks anywhere, also after paying the Bartender for the drinks, I was gathering a few bucks for a tip, and before I could hand it to her she rudely got loud with me and said where's my tip, are you kidding me???

Would’ve loved to come here, as my roommate and I bought tickets for an event in August, but when we showed up well after they opened, they were closed with no warning or explanation anywhere. When we attempted to contact them multiple times about either transferring tickets for another event, or simply getting a refund for an event that never happened - they never followed through. When we finally got a hold of someone, nothing happened. Kept briefly following up and we got ignored. It’s about the principle of the situation, and I hate to leave a bad review - but this is just downright sketchy :/

Newport Blues Café is a high energy night club that consist of live music on the weekend. ON of the best spots for Live Music. They have different performers weekly. If you're looking to dance this is the place to be.
