Beautiful restaurant, staff was amazing! Our server was attentive & informative. The chef stopped by our table to check in with us. Pricey but well worth it. We went there to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we extremely pleased!

The service was exceptional, however the food was not great. The cod pate appetizer was way too salty- almost inedible, the entree, which was cod loin was dry and cold. Not the standard I'd expect at that price point

The property, ocean views and opulent interior of the mansion is the reason to go! The menu/food needs some refinement. I was shocked that the answer was no to a protein being added to my field green salad, which was delicious! The homemade pasta dish was ruined by the excessive amount of butter that was on it. We asked for a dish to pull out the pasta but it had soaked up too much of the butter and was inedible. There was no compensation or will interest in making it right.

We enjoyed dinner at the Chanler. We sat on the heated porch overlooking the lights of the city over the water. Steven, our waiter was attentive without being intrusive and clearly loved working at the Chanler. Our drinks were delicious and we LOVED being part of the "battle of the burgers" going on in Newport this month. The food, the drinks, the ambiance....sigh...perfection!

A wonderful place to stay. Hotel staff is outstanding. The fixed price Valentine's Dinner however was average. Service personnel worked hard, but the timing out of the kitchen was poor, and the mark ups for the "special" dishes were too high.

What an absolutely lovely place! While enjoying the senery on the Cliff Walk, we planned to stop here for some delicious hot chocolate, as we have done in the past. There are comfortable chairs on the lawn, overlooking the ocean, to enjoy the hot beverage. This time, we decided to have a light lunch inside. The restaurant is beautiful and romantic, the service is five stars, the view of the ocean is lovely, and the food is exquisite! If you are in the area, this restaurant is a MUST visit!

We wandered into the bar area after a very enjoyable visit to Cliff Walk. We were hosting my husband's parents who traveled internationally for our visit. They were tired from our walk and we wanted to sit and order some tea. The hostess informed us that we needed to order food for the privilege of sitting at a table and we understood / agreed to order some desserts. After a long pause staring at a tablet that did not have many tables blocked off, she informed us that they have reservations for full lunch. It was a stark slap in the face and we were insulted by the lack of hospitality. The restaurant only had people at three tables by the way. We visit Newport on an annual basis and we always enjoyed the hotel's restaurant after our walks. Unfortunately, this employee &/or the restaurant policies made us feel like homeless people who wandered in off the street without the mandatory status to enjoy their restaurant. Please think twice before offering your patronage!

Reservation was for 2:30 kitchen closed at 3. We were told at 2:50 about this. You should make people aware of last serving on the app or when checking in. We were able t9 get order in, but felt rushed..

One of the best dining experiences we've ever had, and we travel all across the country. Let's start with the exceptional service. Everyone in the house was welcoming from the moment we arrived. We arrived rather early for our reservation (had been driving most of the day and the timing worked out that way); the restaurant was not yet open for dinner. The hostess, however was very gracious. She gave us many options to stay comfortable, inviting us to sit in the lobby, by the fire pit, or to stroll the cliff walk. When we could be seated for dinner, the restaurant phoned us to say our table was ready. Our server was delightful - attentive and responsive to our needs without being at all intrusive. She made winning recommendations about food and drinks and made sure our experience was a good one. Moving to the food: in a word, divine (superb, extraordinary, phenomenal, and incredible also come to mind)!!! Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff. Every course was delicious. Lastly, the ambience. It is elegant, romantic, and has an absolutely beautiful view.

Incredible experience beyond the quality of the food which I would say is Michelin star level. The service from Megan the manager to Jacob our chef and Kyle our server was outstanding and personal.

The Cafe offers a dining experience that surpasses expectations, delivering both exceptional food and commendable service. It stands out as a truly memorable culinary journey, especially highlighted by the personal touch of the head chef, sous chef, and kitchen team. Their enthusiasm in presenting the dishes at our table and sharing insights into the meticulous effort invested in each plate added a unique and delightful dimension to our meal.

We had a great time, the service, food and ambiance were outstanding. We were overcharged, but noticed it and it was corrected. Also, the cancellation policy is ridiculous. The very expensive hot chocolate was lukewarm and served in a to go cup, not a good thing.

Loved our experience here! The team was incredibly friendly and accomodating, and honestly, that was the first indication of our decision to stay and relax for a few hours! Melissa, the host, is a wonderful ambassador to the restaurant, and Kendall, the bartender, fixed us delicious drinks and regaled us with interesting stories and kept us laughing the whole time. Yes, the environs are gilded (literally), but the experience we had was by no means stuffy or pretentious. The bar seats are super comfortable and have back rests so that you don't feel like you're balancing on a stool like at several other establishments, and there's also a wood burning fireplace to add to the wintry ambience of this unique luxe spot. Also, the bathroom is GORGEOUS and one of the best places to take mirror selfies in their antique mirror at the Victorian-inspired powder room section of the restroom. Love it! The truffle fries are super yummy and the perfect pairing with one of their seasonal cocktails - I tried the Fig Tree (fig liquer, apricot, lemon, and amaro) and I cannot stop telling everyone about how good it is. Seriously, one of the best cocktails I have had in recent memory and definitely in Newport. We also tried the Burrata Toast, which was photogenic when plated, but the truffle fries were the true main characters. This was a perfect Girl Dinner afternoon visit, and we'll be back for sure!

Great location by cliff walk. Our waitress is very attentive. However, the kitchen is very slow. We were the only table there for lunch but it still took about an hour to get our food.

A beautiful venue to share with friends. The atmosphere and backdrop of the ocean made this luncheon very special. Our friends are from California and were so impressed with the architecture of the building inside an out. The food was delicious.
