Hard cookies heated up to appear fresh. I’m also convinced the “cookie smell” is artificial and they’re pumping that smell in the air to bring people in.

My husband found this spot and said, "Let's check it out." We walked inside and smelled the aroma of the cookies. It smelt like heaven. We absolutely loved it. Prior to getting the cookies, we asked the women at the counter, which was her favorite she explained which ones were the top sellers and which one was her favorite. I liked how helpful she was. We decided to get 6 different cookies. We got the chocolate chip , oatmeal , snicker doodle, and a couple of others. As soon as we stepped outside, we decided to try one of each, and I absolutely loved the way they all tasted very soft , chewy, and delicious. The prices of the cookies were set at a great price. I would highly recommend giving this spot a chance. They cookies are all very delicious!

We paid $12 for 6 cookies and chose 6. We were looking forward to it at home but there were only 5 in the pack. It would have been better if we had checked in the store straight away.As a tip. Eat the cookies on the same day; the next day they will be more like stones. It's a shame but there's a nice atmosphere around it.

My husband and I love stopping in the Cookie Jar during our stays in Newport. They have both classic and unique cookie flavors. It has small town charm that makes for a lovely experience.Highly recommend!

Three cookies and two brownies cost 14$. It all tasted like sand. It’s actually impressive how they managed to make baked goods taste bad

Historically for years I would have given the Cookie Jar 5 stars. However, a few things happened right before COVID... 1. They reduced the size of their cookies and macaroons, which 2. Makes them burnt and hard (no longer soft and chewy, and 3. They increased the price. Trifecta of negativity. So my family's favorite cookie/dessert place in Newport is now a place we go only because it's convenient. But sadly, I think our days going there are pretty much done. In the end. If they get back to their old ways, increase the size (and price frankly...better and more expensive is much more worth it, what the heck, it's a vacation dessert!), I would come back with open arms. Please go back to your olds ways of chewy big goodness. Until then, hard pass.

The pastries were wonderful. The cookies were a bit on the small side for the price.

The swiss ham on a croissant was very delicious. I really should have tried the cookies but I wanted regular food at the moment. I don't know how I wasn't tempted to try any, it smelled so delicious there! I will next time.
