Kind of a sharp, salty, cheesy pizza, but that's what I like.

Oof. First, don't let the use of the term 'apizza' fool you, as it did me - this pizza bears no resemblance to the New Haven-style pie that made the word famous. The Pepperoni Pizza had a pseudo-NY-style crust, with midgrade-at-best dough that created a flavorless, bready experience. I couldn't really rate the sauce or even the pepperoni (which did at least look great), because of the "4-cheese blend" sprinkled everywhere on the pizza. I assume the 4 cheeses were romano, pecorino, grated parmesan, and... Salt? The overpowering flavor of the blend made it impossible to even taste the pepperoni, let alone the mozzarella. The sauce broke through somewhat, but was so corrupted by the cheese blend I couldn't really enjoy it. I don't know if it was the heavy hand of the person preparing it on the day, or if this is just how they do it, but I won't be attempting to find out in the future. If you're one of those people who let the server grate parmesan onto your pasta until it forms a little table volcano, you'll love this pizza. The "Dragged Through The Garden Sandwich" was really an attempt to make a $15 Chicago-style hot dog with jalapeno relish added. Except what was advertised as a "Heritage hot dog" was... Gray. When my lunch companion opened the box, we tried to figure out what this mysterious meat link was: not a conventional hot dog, not a saugy, maybe a Polish sausage? Some sort of kielbasa victimized by a beef vampire, robbed of its precious pigment? After a few bites, she made no progress in identifying it, but did deem it "absolutely flavorless... And very soft. The center is almost mushy." And, the "scallions" described in the menu were rings of wet white onions. She did say that the bun, pickle, yellow tomatoes, and mustard were tasty. We are blessed with, at least, a dozen great pizzeria options in Providence. This is not one of them. The photos of their chicken sandwiches look great, but after this experience, I'll never find out if that's the case.

When I tell you I just had the most amazing experience at Apizza History!!!! As my Nana would say, "whew, chile!"First of all, the service was amazing and I wish I would have asked the name of the young man that was in there today (7/2/21 @ 215-ish) because his customer service was excellent!!Now onto the food!!!! ? I had the Southern Bird Chicken Sando! Talk about wanting to "kiss the chef"!! That was, hands down, the best chicken sandwich I have had ... EVER!I truly enjoyed every bit of this experience and will definitely be returning!!!!P.S. Sorry that I could not add a photo ... I ate EVERY DROP of that chicken sandwich before thinking of writing this review! ?

Ok the chicken sandwich is something spectacular. Chicken wing event brought us in and they were delicious- fun flavors. But the chicken sandwich was something to dream about! Its a little hard to find- it's inside the arcade. alittle hole in the wall. Staff was so friendly and we took his recommendation on what wings to get.

Ok, so at first I was a little nervous. I like to talk to people on the phone, and I couldn't get anyone with the numbers posted. Ok, so I put on my big girl pants and I showed up. Man, I'm glad I did. I had a sausage and peppers pizza, and it was tasty. The sausage is made in house, which I respect. The crust wasn't my favorite, but hey, we can't all love the same thing. It was still yummy. The item that got me was the wings. Holy moly. I got chimichurri and Korean bbq wings. The sauces were creative and amazingly delicious. Here's the kicker. The dang wings are smoked! Wow, just amazing flavor. So good. To top it all off, the folks working there were beyond friendly. It's not often someone asks you your name and where you're from. It's small, but it makes customers feel appreciated. I would visit them again in a heartbeat.

I saw the great first few reviews and wanted to check the place out. I ordered a sausage and peppers pizza and an order of the apple habanero wings. I was impressed by how heavy they were on the sauce while maintaining a firm crust, but it fell very flat on the flavor and the texture. It was almost like eating sorta bland lasagna sauce on top of a crust too stiff to easily bite through and too chewy (like a frozen pizza). I normally enjoy the crust, but it was partly burnt and bitter. The wings were more of the same. They were sizable, but they were lacking in flavor and completely lacking in heat. Maybe they had a bad day, but I probably won't order from here again. I'll update my review if I have a better experience in the future.

There's a charm to anything inside The Arcade in Providence, and Apizza History is definitely bustling with charm. The first thing that sticks out is the camaraderie of the staff -- we're recognized every time we come in (even with masks on!) and that's just awesome. It makes us feel at home. Clear care goes into making sure every meal is prepared safely. They're going above and beyond COVID guidelines. Food is piping hot, and stays hot on the ride home. Takeout-only, although I hear you can sometimes eat it in the Rogue Island dining room, since they're partnering establishments. Huge standouts are the OG Bird Chicken Sandwich & the Local Burrata salad, which we've ordered almost every time we came in. The Burrata is so fresh, and the toast is the perfect vessel to get to that yumminess. The chicken is SUPER tender --- the batter is so light, and there's just the right amount of salt. For a fried sandwich, it travels very well, and stays crispy all the way home. The poutine pizza is our favorite so far. The pickled red onion pulls it all together, and helps cut back against the richness of the sauce. They're all very balanced flavors. Can't go wrong here!
