Bit of a confusing experience but we originally wanted to go to Heng downstairs. It was packed so we decided to give this place which has the same menu a try. Everything is delicious and the same as downstairs but with a different vibe. It was empty upstairs mainly because everyone was going to the original Heng but I’d give this place a shot - there’s really no difference.

The house broth and Tom yum was really good, good quality meat and veggies for the hot pot. Service was good too. Price was about right, never going to be too cheap with hot pot. It’s above the normal heng restaurant.

I would return just for the excellent service. The wait staff was very nice. It's a great place to have healthy food and choose what you want to put into hot pots that cook at your table. You can get any kind of meat or seafood broth, or vegan. They have pots that do two/ half and half. We got vegan and tom yum, then a bunch of vegetables and fish tofu. Everything was super fresh. The menu's are nice, with wood covers, but it's a little confusing at first trying to figure out what's a hot pot and what's not, and how to work the hot pots if that's what you choose.

Delicious and fun hot pot with impeccable service! The vegetarian options are really impressive but the meat is quality too. The waitress who we had was very attentive and gave great recommendations.

Mahaheng is a fairly new restaurant to join Angell St and is the sister restaurant of Heng Thai & Rotisserie which is located right downstairs. Mahaheng offers hotpot, teriyaki bowls, and appetizers. There are plenty of tables and is very spacious. For hotpot, you can opt for a traditional hotpot experience and cook by yourselves or you can choose the items and they will prepare it for you. We chose the traditional hotpot experience. First step is choosing a broth. They have Soy-Shoyu and Tom-Yum as half/full for a price and the free options are vegan or House Pork Broth. We chose to do half Soy-Shoyu and half Tom-Yum as our broth. Second step is choosing a dipping sauce and they have 2 options: Homemade Soy sauce and Maha sauce. We were informed Maha sauce has a little spice to it so we went with that one. Third step is to choose the items for hotpot. They offer sets which is served with a side of rice or udon noodle and raw assorted vegetables or items a la carte. We chose the Pork Belly set and a few items a la carte. They do have a good selection of a la carte items, but I wish they had more like baby corn and more types of balls. I definitely enjoyed the Soy-Shoyu broth over the Tom-Yum. The Maha sauce was nice, but I do miss making my own sauce and the various sauces options. All the food we cooked was fresh and filling. The serving size of the udon noodle, raw assorted vegetables, and the a la carte items were a little small. For dessert, we had the green tea tempura ice cream and it was very yummy. Our bill total prior to tip was $115.24. Service was wonderful and attentive. They kept checking if we needed to order anything else and refilled our broth/sauces. We didn't need to wait long for items after we ordered them. I would be interested in trying their House Pork Broth and their teriyaki bowls. Though Mahaheng does have some shortcomings compared to other hotpot places in Providence, I still think it is a great option for having the hotpot experience with friends.

Love the atmosphere, super helpful vegan and vegetarian options and delicious food! Service is also great— they take my family’s dietary restrictions super seriously and always remember what we like to order :)

Pretty good spot for hot pot, a more affordable option than Y Shabu Shabu or Lamei (especially if you’re a vegetarian). However you can’t make your own sauce, and they didn’t have any sesame oil or paste. Everything came out quickly and the servers were all attentive. Tom Yum soup base was so tasty too, definitely recommend that one!

The food here was by no means bad, but it missed the mark for hot pot. A number of the offerings were unusual, but didn't seem like positive deviations. For example, there was no "sauce station" that many hot pot places have, including sesame paste as a base and various sauces to mix in (soy, hoisin, sacha, XO, garlic, cilantro, hot oil, etc.). Instead, there were just a couple of sauce options brought to the table. Also, the "sets" include unusual vegetables like broccoli and carrot that don't go particularly well with hotpot. The broths were fine but nothing special. Service was good and the meat was fresh and tasty. They have clearly opened recently so perhaps they are taking some time to work the kinks out.

I came to this place with a group of friends. We had tried their hotpot, teriyaki bowl and Thai style salad. Everything was fresh and so tasty. The service was friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone and we will be back soon.
