I have been to Providence twice in my adult life. Not sure why only twice because it is a lovely smaller city. But anyway, I managed to go into the same restaurant on both visits without having any idea. Palo is in a very old building right next to the canal - I mean really old. About five years ago this was a Irish pub. Now it is Palo - a restaurant with wonderful sangria and tapas. Service was great and the food was better. We could only get a reservation for 5 pm on a Friday (because we were very last minute) but it was fine. We had about 5-6 things on the menu - a chacuterie board, patatas bravas, lamb and the tortilla among them. I can understand why it is tough to get a table - this place is very good. Maybe on my third trip to Providence it will be something else but I certainly hope not because this place is a gem.

My new favorite place in Providence. Food and ambiance are fabulous. We loved the chorizo and lamb baclava.

You are MISSING OUT if you have not visited PALo yet. I had a 4-month streak of coming here almost every week. I have brought the pickiest of eaters, and even those with allergies, and everyone enjoyed themselves! A great pick for a first date, big party, or really any occasion with food. There is something for everyone, and it is deliciously made; even the drink and the beats are fun!

First time here and everything was excellent! Bartenders were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and the drinks were great too. Amazing selection of tapas, cocktails and wine. Can’t wait to go back.

We’ve been here a couple of times and truly never have a bad experience. I think if anyone doesn’t like the food it’s more of a preference because everything is perfect! So much of it is authentic to the food we have had in Spain. The Patatas Bravas is a staple and they don’t skimp on the sauce or potatoes! We will be back many more times I’m sure! Michael is always our waiter and he’s always a pleasure!

Palo, palo, palo. Every once in awhile you come across a restaurant where you can eat and drink everything off the menu this is one of those places. Instead of going into great detail about the dishes. I will say they were all amazing. Each dish was given special attention and crafted with the care and respect for the ingredients and for the person experiencing it. The flavors are in every bite you take there. And the drinks are really delicious. The same care with the food is added to the drinks here as well. Balanced and the staff really takes the time to make sure they are giving you a drink that you will enjoy. The staff is amazing. Super knowledgeable and extraordinarily friendly. Just from my 2 days in Rhode Island I am really inspired and a fan of Providences restaurant and food community. We were able to plan the rest of our food experiences in Providence around convos we had with the staff at Palo. Will definitely be visiting here again.

My son and daughter-in-law brought me here for dinner. Everything was incredible. The tapas that we ordered came quickly and staggered so we had time to enjoy each. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We decided on dessert and have decided that we MUST always order dessert as well. We ordered the Ensalada Primavera, Costillas de Maiz, Rabo de Toro, and Albondigas, and for dessert: chocolate NAVID Bakers Babka. Can't wait to return!

Want so badly go give 5 stars because the food is amazing but last night really put a sour taste in our mouth. Went to dinner with another couple who is 9 months pregnant and wanted to get out one last time. Arrived and sat promptly at 630. Ordered a round of drinks and a first round plates which were brought out quickly. At this point it was 715 and we were ready for more plates. Ordered about 6 more plates that were brought out by 735 except one. It seemed like this last dish was forgotten to be placed and at 8pm we asked the waiter where it was. He went to check and 5 minutes later arrived back with it. As soon as we were done with that he brought the check. I get the time limit on the tables however we would have been done already if that last plate wasn’t forgetton about. When he dropped the check I said but we wanted dessert. He got SO flustered and told us our time was up at the table but to see what he can do. He came back and said he places the dessert order but to pay our check. He didn’t ask how many desserts we wanted so when I asked if he only placed one he proceeded to say yes and I asked for another which just took longer. We were sitting near the host stand and I felt we were just being watched while we tried to quickly scarf down our dessert. On a $250 check I would expect a little more respect. We ate and left quickly. Not sure we will return.

I wish my experience was better considering it took over a month to make a reservation and the reviews said otherwise. The service was ok, food was mediocre BUT we were told we had only 30 min left at our reservation even though our meals had not come out yet. It was never disclosed to us when we made the reservation or when we were seated that we had a “time limit”. I feel if I am a paying customer ordering food and drinks, enjoying my night out it should not matter how long I am at a table for. Unfortunately, I would not return or recommend to a friend.

Great experience. Each tapas was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. Very friendly staff . We made reservations but we were seated at a high top in the bar area, would have preferred a quieter area.

The food was amazing no doubt about that, but service was not it :( uncomfortable faces from the waitress every time we put in an order. she never came to us we always went to her and Got attitude from the server when asking a question. I’m in the customer service industry and the whole experience was just awkward and uncomfortable unfortunately.

Fun, friendly and upbeat environment. Great for a drink after work too. We sat at the bar and had several plates. Everything was terrific, but the star of the show was the corn- uniquely sliced and served with an aioli sauce that was out of this world. We also had the swordfish, mushrooms served on skewers, olives, a pasta with squid ink, calamari and shrimp with the heads on, and chorizo. Short walk to the train and local hotel
