Place was, very old school. Quaint but cramped. Salad was a plate of old, limp greens. Waiter told me the dressing was made in-house (For $100+ per person I’m assuming everything is homemade). Steak was very tough and duck was meh. Service was attentive but formal in a stuffy way.

The staff greets everyone in French which is a lovely touch. The coquille st Jacques was exquisite!! The escargot were cooked to perfection and very tender and not too garlicky. The French onion soup must have been amazing because my honey didn't save me any cheese! Unlimited fresh baked bread is dangerous. ? The crepes suzette reminded us of Mario's Dad who's French Canadian and now passed but he used to make them for us; and we were celebrating our anniversary which happens to be on Dad's birthday so it was a nice tribute to him. Definitely make reservations and we parked in the lot between pot au feu and capriccios for $15. Lovely evening!Parking: Paid parking lot around the corner. Plan to arrive early just in case that lot's full

As always, Pot au Feu exceeded expectations! I have been a patron of the restaurant for decades and honestly, since my mom who was my favorite dinner companion, passed away, I don't get out as often as I used to. I had an opportunity to dine out with a dear friend who actually suggested, "Let's go to Pot au Feu! I'm craving their duck!" As she has often pointed out, few restaurants serve duck and those that do, do not prepare it as well. I chose the beef tenderloin with a luscious bordelaise sauce. Both dishes were served with ratatouille and roasted potatoes with a side of dill sauce. The dinner, as always, began with warm, French bread with a crock of creamy butter and salad, sprinkled with blue cheese and served with a choice of homemade dressings (raspberry vinegarette or a creamy mustard). For dessert we did forgo the creme brulee which is our usual choice and opted for espresso martinis. While the food was amazing, I would be remiss if I were not to bring attention to the exceptional service and ambiance. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by owner, Bob Burke, dressed impeccably in a jacket and his trademark bowtie. He seated us in a cozy center table. If you haven't been to the restaurant since the pandemic, you'll be amazed at the beautiful way they reformulated the room to maintain the atmosphere, yet separate tables to give space away from other patrons. When you arrive at your table, glasses and side plates are covered with a linen napkin to keep them protected. Of course, flowers and a candle complete the setting. Our server was Hillary, a longtime and beloved staff member who always makes you feel at home. She makes a point to remember many of her patrons and always greets you warmly. All servers and staff are always keeping an eye on your every need, yet give you space without hovering. All in all, it was a spectacular evening, and we cannot wait to return!

Decent food! Very nice attempt at the French experience. However, what is with this childish “don’t complain to us” message? This is just “live laugh love“ for pretentious restaurant owners. Grow up lmao

We can't say enough about what a wonderful dining experience we enjoyed. From the friendly greeting we received from the owner , exceptional service from all the staff, amazing apps, entrees & dessert. The ambiance has to make it one of the most romantic restaurants in Providence. Dinner there feels like a little vacation! Honestly a flawless experience. Can't wait to return!

been wanting to try this spot for years and I finally got a weekend night off so I did! I sat at the bar with Casey and he was very professional and made me feel super welcome. The drinks and food were very on point. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and I hope one day I get to try it again!

We were seated promptly upon arrival for our reservation. The ambience was delightful, cozy, private feeling, not noisy. The menu was great, the food was disappointing, not as wonderful as I recall after not dining her in many years The salad that came with the entree was limp and boring. The bread was warm but kinda like white bread. I was hoping for fabulous French bread. Enjoyed the mushroom soup immensely. Duck was good but accompanying sides did not measure up. Because of a miscommunication, we did not get the pot de chocolate dessert we asked for. Service was attentive.

We were a party of 7 and were given a wonderful table in a nook where we could really hear each other and feel at home. We ordered different dishes so we could taste as many as possible. Everything was really delicious. What we didn't expect was the abundant size of each dish (we had to take some doggy bags home); we were very well taken care of. It almost felt like we were at home, albeit being served! The pates, the onion soup and the mushroom soup were particularly appreciated. We did not have dessert as we were going to a birthday party afterwards.

Always a favorite! We love the cozy feel, tucked away and hidden. The food is, of course, fantastic! And the service attentive and personal. I can't say enough nice things - what a treasure to have here in Providence!

This was our first visit since the pandemic closed everything down, and the restaurant has changed for the good. Before it was quite noisy and it was hard to have a conversation. As a counter-virus tactic, the owners created attractive glassed-in nooks around each table, and they act effectively to tamp down ambient noise. The food was very good, as it has always been, and the service, while on the slow side, was courteous and unobtrusive.

I have always found the total presentation at the POT au Feu to be superior. Last night they brought the dining experience up to higher level. Go here to DINE not to just eat!

Classic french food in an intimate atmosphere. Long time owner is there to make you feel personally welcome. Food is excellent but menu while fairly extensive doesn't change and there are no specials.

Love the way the restaurant looks & feels. Old school ambiance & super friendly host. We had a nice conversation with him. I think I just ordered the wrong thing (I don't eat meat...) b/c I thought the food was just ok. We shared the trio of pate (pretty good) & I ordered the vegan pot au feu. It was lots of veggies in a broth. The veggies were cooked to perfection, but it was just lacking a bit. I guess I also thought it would be more stew-like & it was literally broth & veggies. We had the creme brûlée for dessert & it was very good. Not sure if it's the best I've ever had, but it was delicious. The salad that comes with all entrees was decent. Nothing special. Literally just lettuce & salad dressing, unless you opt for the blue cheese for $1.00. I would go back & try something else. I don't feel like it's a very kid-friendly place, but great for a fun & intimate dinner.

We had a wonderful Valentine's meal at this incredible restaurant. The owner is so personable; he greeted us as we entered and shared some of the history of the restaurant and area. The staff provided meaningful recommendations that were spot-on with our tastes, and the service was excellent. The food was spectacular (huge shout-out to the chef for putting together such delectable dishes), and the drinks were great as well. Fine dining quality at a reasonable price, with a comfy atmosphere. I highly recommend Pot au Feu!
