Was really excited to try this place. The staff was extremely polite and kind. No complaints! The food is a bit overpriced for what it is. We ordered the tikka masala. It was good but it was very bland, almost like eating tomato sauce on rice. The Samosas were okay, the pees inside were kind of hard. So overall the food was decent but we won't be going again. Maybe we didn't pick the right dishes.

My kiddo and I had a very lovely early dinner here after a day of shopping. I'd been here before but only for lunch. Dinner was exquisite! Easily the best vindaloo I've ever had, and I have been to a ton of NYC's best Indian restaurants. My kiddo had samosas and the malai kofta and loved it! We both walked out stuffed to the gills, and the sweet server even offered my kid a couple of chocolates. Love this place!

My favorite Indian spot in RI. The owners and staff are friendly and accommodating and the cuisine is fabulous. I have been a regularly patron at this restaurant for 14 years and it still surprises me. Care goes into taste instead of presentation - which is simple and adequate. Try the mint chutney served with the Papadum. Order a Samosa for appetizer, followed by Aloo Gobi, or Aloo Palak for your entree. Perfect!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are many, and you can inform your server to remove cream and butter from vegetarian items to make them vegan.Parking: The venue does not have a parking lot, but there is street parking, and there is always something available.

Recommended dishes: Vegetable Samosa, Papadum, Vindaloo, Palak Paneer, Palak, Nan, Tikka Masala

during Ramadan, our group of fasting people really wanted to cater Taste of India for a rescheduled Tuesday night banquet but they’re closed on Tuesdays. i contacted the restaurant and explained we would be catering for about 30-35 people and was wondering if he would be able to accommodate us. he was willing and brought generous portioned trays and delivered them right on time. i think that shows this business goes the extra mile. the food of course was so delicious, flavorful, and steaming hot for a delivery! and we had so many leftovers that everyone took home and shared with friends.

Ordered take out so can’t comment on the restaurant it’s self but the food was great. Definitely some of the better Indian food I’ve had in the area with the helpings being large, delicious and rather unique ( they included side sauces which is not something I’m used to when ordering tikka masala - they complimented the dish well also). Spice level was a bit low so if you like spicy, I’d recommend asking for extra spicy.

India has been my favorite restaurant for 20 years. It has the BEST cleanest food, most delicious all around. Probably my favorite providence restaurant. The service is always super attentive and kind. And the ambiance is always perfect. It’s great for a night out AND a family atmosphere. All around, my favorite.

My gf and I ate there last night. Staff extremely friendly, efficient. I asked my gf to order me Shrimp Curry with spiciness as follows - if max is 3, then 3, if max is 5, then 4, if max is 10, then 9. I went to the men's room, and when I came back, they had taken our order, and a nine it was! Often times I find Indian food less spicy than expected, so I tend to underestimate. Big mistake. This place is not afraid to give you what you ask for. It was extremely spicy, but as much as I was able to tolerate that, the taste was great. The shrimp were very high quality - clean looking, large, and many of them. Now, my gf wants as little spice as possible, and her chicken tika masala was perfect. But I did a bad thing - I spread sauce on the nan, ate some, and put it back in the basket. Later, not realizing that, she ate some of it - and set her mouth on fire! So when the staff came around I was like - we are going to need more water!! And he came over and saw what was happening, and the three of us had a good laugh. A few minutes later, he came over with this dish that was similar to ice cream, and said it would help - and it did. He didn't even charge me for it. We got to talking about spice, and he said, normally (5) is already spicy, so asking for 9 is like ambulance level. But we all had a great time; it was not very expensive, place was very clean, and it is now my only place for Indian.

A very mediocre meal. I came here just to kill a little bit of time before going on to doing some errands. Here's the food that we got.Cauliflower pokoro which is supposed to be spicy. This is probably one of the worst pakoras I've ever had in my life. Mushy and without any kind of flavor.Vegetable curry was terrible and completely bland. Mutton biryani was very bland.Garlic naan was the best thing that we ordered.Providence doesn't have a lot of great Indian food places and we are definitely more critical because that's something that is consumed at home so there are very high standards. Regardless I've had much better Indian meals in other places so I would definitely not come backThere is plenty of street parking and it is free. Ambience of the places just fine no major complaints in the bathroom was clean. Service was fine there were no major issues.Overall I hadn't been here in a while and I was hoping things had changed but sadly they have not. It's one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Providence which is still mind-boggling to me but it is what it is.

Great samosas, great garlic naan, great mango lassi, and great papadams. Their chicken tikka masala is also excellent and the lunch portion is generous. Reason for the four star review is their chicken vindaloo. It really lacked the spice, tang, and the wow factor that I usually get from a great vindaloo. It’s my go to dish and this left me very disappointed. However, everything else was so good I’ll definitely be back and will try something else!
